tkrestonva[TK] Posted January 3, 2010 Report Posted January 3, 2010 Are you 501st-approved yet? You can't be EIB-approved until you at least have a Legion TK number. Quote
TK bondservnt[501st] Posted January 3, 2010 Author Report Posted January 3, 2010 Are you 501st-approved yet? You can't be EIB-approved until you at least have a Legion TK number. not yet, but my application is in. I'm just hitting all the bases! so? what do you think? Quote
firebladejedi[TK] Posted January 3, 2010 Report Posted January 3, 2010 First of all you need to be a 501st member with the Stormtrooper costume. Then looking at the photos, you need to include pictures from the front, side and back with your arms in the down position as if standing to attention so that your arms do not cover most of your body so that the costume details can easily be seen. Also to be shown in photos are the blaster details, helmet close ups showing colour of lens and mic tips and we need to see a helmet off shot. Quote
Debater2nd[TK] Posted January 3, 2010 Report Posted January 3, 2010 The right side shim looks like it might need to be longer/more flexible with movement as well. Good progress, though! Quote
89Batman[TK] Posted January 3, 2010 Report Posted January 3, 2010 Looking good, my only reservations would be the lenses seem to be a little see through on the first helmet and the belt doesn't look right- it looks too flimsy in that the holster is practically pulling it down. I would suggest that maybe you try and re-enforce it, and of course as Mark Says you need more pics with greater detail. I believe Billy was working on a simple EIB application form that would help, PM him and maybe he can let you have all the details, it should help speed things up for you. Good luck with your 501st application I can't imagine youo will have too much trouble there. Quote

Good luck with your 501st application I can't imagine youo will have too much trouble there. yeah... during fitting my photographer didn't tell me about my belt sagging on the side. sure shows the screen accurate cloth belt. and it made my shims offset. in the ANH photos the fitting is better. areas fixed: Lenses are being replaced, done shims will be better set, done. the belt sagged a little on the holster side. done. shoulder bells fitting done. the shoulder strapping will also improve. done. I have other detailed photos in my upcoming photosets. the photos above will be modded as all these slight improvements will be completed BEFORE my 501st application goes through. thanks everyone for the feedback. to watch a new and growing star wars related website check out www.metalvideotube.com/starwars/ 501st FISD all the way! new are now up. Daetrin[Admin] Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 It should be an easy 501st approval with that suit - you already look better than some in the Legion and the small fixes are somtimes allowed to pass as "signing notes". EIB will need those little tweaks though, but Vern you are so close it's not going to be rough at all. Others went EIB in 24 hours after getting their TKID from the 501st, you could easily do the same. Quote
ThayNerd[TK] Posted January 4, 2010 Report Posted January 4, 2010 Looking good Vern almost there! Quote

TK bondservnt[501st] Posted January 4, 2010 Author Report Posted January 4, 2010 without all of you none of this would have been possible! I'd be wearing an FX kit and wondering why my chestplate is so big? hahahaha!!! my kit consists of the following parts: one AP armor kit. canada baby! chazz belt. new york. handmade leather holster with rivets. ca boots. ah.... the smell of CA boots! hand made riveting style neckseal. AP helmet ESB style. stomper hovie oregon- woot ( I was born in portland ) his versions are on both helmets. mike's esb stickers (I like it in the down south california!) Troopermaster handplates sewn on silk gloves. (all trimming and drilling done by paul. thanks paul... you're the best out there!) for the ANH hero I use a fully modded MRCE with troopermaster rubber trim, bubble smoke lenses and mike's stickers. stomper hovies round out the mod. fireblade jedi's latex type 2 han solo style gloves. resin blaster with removeable hengstler for dual duty. (maker of things mr copy) blaster has working metal D ring and aluminum trigger guard with lighted scope. check out my star wars website: www.metalvideotube.com/starwars/ thanks again to everyone. NEW PHOTOS ARE UP! MY AP kit with mrce mod. Quote
TK bondservnt[501st] Posted January 13, 2010 Author Report Posted January 13, 2010 New photos up! wow, that armor polish sure did the trick! I've had some of our troopers say that my forearms are trimmed large. that's because my arms won't fit inside smaller armor. the arms are extremely tight, can anyone say "armor bites" I have popeye arms and shoulders! nothing I could do to change that! Daetrin[Admin] Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 Looks great to me - you have a lot of little details covered too. Terrell should have the final word - let's see what he says. These pix are a marked improvement over the last batch Quote
Daetrin[Admin] Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 Hey Vern - while it's attractive to kill two birds with one application, it's not a good practice as far as the det is concerned as each application should be made in toto and stand on it's own. As such I've renamed this to be your ESB thread as that's the majority of your pix and created an ANH application thread for you. This will make it easier on both the staff and any other applicants moving forward. Quote

I know what you mean about photographers. I have had pieces or armor popping out or straps hanging that show up on pictures. They don't know what to look for since it is new to them. I have "educated" my wife what to look for, but the best fitter/spotter is always a fellow TK! Quote
TK bondservnt[501st] Posted January 13, 2010 Author Report Posted January 13, 2010 I know what you mean about photographers. I have had pieces or armor popping out or straps hanging that show up on pictures. They don't know what to look for since it is new to them. I have "educated" my wife what to look for, but the best fitter/spotter is always a fellow TK! Almost all of the flaws on my previous photographs were due to upgrades that have needed to be modded. the shoulder bells, the shoulder straps, and the side gaps all needed replacement fittings. I've transitioned the fitting elements inside and will be removing all velcro parts completely. I've moved into snaps, harness, extra strength elastic. just moving up the chest plate by counting the number of ridges, and locking the shoulder bells to the shoulder straps moved the chest plate to the proper position. gluing down the shoulder straps was the best fitting option I could make. it took 10 days with armor glueing all over the place. and I still need more snaps! if anyone really looks close you can see that I also modded my thermal det cannister's hangers with aluminum@!
