joryayer Posted September 15, 2009 Report Posted September 15, 2009 I'm a very avid Gizmodo reader, not sure if any of you are, but I was browsing around tonight after work, and found this: The Death Star was Stormtroopers 9/11 It was pretty interesting, a couple good quips/gags. The stormie with the armor that kept changing really bothered me though (you don't have to look to hard). Figured I'd post this... Quote
Sgt Steve Posted September 15, 2009 Report Posted September 15, 2009 This is pretty cool. I was on security duty's not much after the event, so I can understand why some may take it the wrong way. But we get to a point where we have to joke a bit or we will go nut's. It's the armor that get's we "hot under the bucket! man to drop that much coin for that kit, and to look so s**ty! Quote
FireDS Posted September 15, 2009 Report Posted September 15, 2009 The one dude could have at least put his ab armor UNDER his chest plate. Quote
Runnriottt Posted September 15, 2009 Report Posted September 15, 2009 I cringed at the title... but... That was good. Now do it right with good armor and good voice amps that would rock. Quote
PEEL Posted September 15, 2009 Report Posted September 15, 2009 Dreaded the title but it was entertaining.....brutal armour though... Quote
nothingrecorded Posted September 15, 2009 Report Posted September 15, 2009 AHhhhhhh aha ha haa RUBIES ARMOR! Still way funny : ) Quote
ThayNerd[TK] Posted September 15, 2009 Report Posted September 15, 2009 LOL that was pretty funny. That armor looks so terrible, rubies did a terrible job on it. Quote
darren1970[501st] Posted September 15, 2009 Report Posted September 15, 2009 Hmmm, what an interesting combination, sh#t armour AND an idiot who can't dress himself. Nice, real nice. Quote
synaptyx Posted September 15, 2009 Report Posted September 15, 2009 That tucked chestplate was definitely a windup. Quote
tkrestonva[TK] Posted September 16, 2009 Report Posted September 16, 2009 Pretty good skit! Helps take some of the sting out of the memory of such a horrific event. Like Nathan, when I saw the thread title, I thought "Oh, no. . . " Turned out to be all right. Note to self: Try not to judge a book by it's cover - or a thread by it's title. And oh, would it have killed the actors to at least wear the armor correctly?!? Even the FX kit was sloppily worn, never mind the Rubies. Sheesh. Show some pride, troopers! Quote
joryayer Posted September 16, 2009 Author Report Posted September 16, 2009 I figured I'd do the original post on Gizmodo justice, and not change the title; however, as tkrestnova said, "Try not to judge a book by it's cover - or a thread by it's title". The rubies armor is horific. I'm so glad it's not allowed in the 501st. I think the guys who did this were trying to be funny when the chestplate went under the kidney plate. If you notice from other angles, it looks like he is wearing it proper. Who knows, I got a good chuckle. Blue milk! Quote
TK8776 jgarrettg Posted September 16, 2009 Report Posted September 16, 2009 Pretty funny. Rubies should be ashamed of themselves. How in the heck did that get through licensing? Quote
Merugear Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 Guess they watched Star Wars on a very small screen so they could claim it to be screen accurate? Quote
Sgt Steve Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 Pretty funny. Rubies should be ashamed of themselves. How in the heck did that get through licensing? Why it's plain to see,,,,,,$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. let's face it "Uncle George" is all about the cash now! Quote
TK8776 jgarrettg Posted September 18, 2009 Report Posted September 18, 2009 Well, that's true but......Really? Quote
Agent RayBans Posted September 18, 2009 Report Posted September 18, 2009 One good thing about Rubies... makes an FX lid look screen used when they're standing next to each other! Quote
bluehickey Posted September 18, 2009 Report Posted September 18, 2009 And neck seals, why weren't they wearing any NECK SEALS??? This was written so well, but it came out looking unprofessional when one stormtrooper looks different than the others. Either do all Rubies costumes, or all FX armor, but don't mix and match, yikes! Quote
Murray1134[501st] Posted September 18, 2009 Report Posted September 18, 2009 Someone should contact the makers, get them to re-film it with proper armor. Quote
tkrestonva[TK] Posted September 18, 2009 Report Posted September 18, 2009 Someone should contact the makers, get them to re-film it with proper armor. Can you see the reaction to that request? Actor 1: Hey dude, some Star Wars nerds want us to redo the 9/11 Stormtrooper vid with better costumes. Actor 2: I know, instead let's beat them up and take their lunch money! Quote
