Trooperman Posted September 16, 2009 Report Posted September 16, 2009 Could someone post a picture of the backs and fronts of their thighs? The bottoms of them (front view). I think I trimmed mine incorrectly... Alex, can you show what you mean ? a photo is a million words mate Quote
TK-7980 Posted September 16, 2009 Author Report Posted September 16, 2009 these parts. here are mine, they aren't fully trimmed but they already look distorted and on one of the thighs I clearly cut WAY too much (was a slip of the knife ) Quote
Amish Trooper Posted September 16, 2009 Report Posted September 16, 2009 Might I suggest using painters tape. It gives you a clear line to cut along Quote
TK-7980 Posted September 16, 2009 Author Report Posted September 16, 2009 Yeah I use that. The thighs are just rough trimmed to get rid of everything passed the mold line or whatever. The one where I trimmed way too much was where the knife slipped because I was "potato peeling". Quote
TK-7980 Posted September 24, 2009 Author Report Posted September 24, 2009 And the snag I ran into during kneeplate assembly. Finishing up the thighs, and the left forearm. everything should be done tonight. (minus strapping) Quote

TK-7980 Posted September 25, 2009 Author Report Posted September 25, 2009 I appreciate it. I feel like I've screwed up this armor Which way are the swoops on the shoulder bells supposed to be facing? Or does it even matter? Quote

TK-7828 Posted September 25, 2009 Report Posted September 25, 2009 looking good If you screw up anything just order new parts. They are not expensive he has a good price on spareparts Iv orderd a new belt cause i fracked up mine with e6000 glue and clamps . Search for stormtrooper PT on youtube and you find a movie of a guy that has it, looks good there. I have the swoops facing forward basecley cause i think it looks better on photos ( se mine in my thread) but i can change it anytime I think Skywalker has his facing forward and solos facing back. Cheers and cant wait for moore pics. Quote

Funny you mention that, I wonder if that'd be me. I have a vid of my PT gear on youtube, but I don't think you can find it yet. I just did a search for "stormtrooper PT" and almost nothing comes up... This is me, anyways: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mK0yVxXVi8g It really is quite awesome, I'm gonna apply for elite soon once I've had professional photos taken. Oh, btw: my swoops face back, as on most suits in ANH. Quote

Or does it even matter? look at the photos and captions off to the right on this page http://web.mac.com/mikeharrison/armor.html Luke's faced forward, Han's faced backwards Quote
TK-7980 Posted September 29, 2009 Author Report Posted September 29, 2009 This is as much as I could put on by myself. Also, mind that the thighs are not hanging from straps and the suspenders I have are horrible. Quote

TK-7980 Posted October 2, 2009 Author Report Posted October 2, 2009 You can see my horrible mess of a room. I need to fix the right shoulder bell I think... and trim the kidney plate some more. other than that it's finished. (minus TD/O2 tank) Quote
Mowskwoz[TK] Posted October 2, 2009 Report Posted October 2, 2009 Looking good Alex. You may want to add a strip of elastic from the front to the back near the bottom of your shoulder bells to help pull them in to where they need to be. Quote
TK-7980 Posted October 2, 2009 Author Report Posted October 2, 2009 I will do that tomorrow. Thanks for reminding me of that. Quote

(minus TD/O2 tank) Alex , the armours looking good , the thing im picking up from the photos is that you might have a problem with some of the armour parts twisting in different directions if im wrong please blast me into a million pieces , how about trying to add small foam blocks to the inside of the armour to prevent the various parts twisting Quote
TK-7980 Posted October 2, 2009 Author Report Posted October 2, 2009 You're right. I do. Everything is still loose on me. I have a spare foam block that I was going to use for padding... but I doubt its enough to pad my entire armor. I'll see what I can do and post more pics. Thanks everyone Quote
TK-7980 Posted October 13, 2009 Author Report Posted October 13, 2009 How would you guys suggest I secure the elastic straps in the shoulder bells? Just e6000 them in? Or snaps? Quote
Trooperman Posted October 13, 2009 Report Posted October 13, 2009 How would you guys suggest I secure the elastic straps in the shoulder bells? Just e6000 them in? Or snaps? Alex, I would always go with snaps... but you know your armour if you glue the snap in the bell is it visible through the HIPS plastic? Quote
TK-7980 Posted October 13, 2009 Author Report Posted October 13, 2009 It might be. At the moment you can't really see the snaps I have in the ab armor that hold up the thighs. Quote
