synaptyx Posted August 7, 2009 Author Report Posted August 7, 2009 Tony, as soon as I can afford one of your fine pulls, I'll be on it with my waiting-for-TE2-to-resume shirt on. In the meantime, I have a lovely bucket to play with and have moved it on a few steps today, again thanks to Mike's videos and research on Jez's awesome http://www.starwarshelmets.com Quote
binkx02 Posted August 7, 2009 Report Posted August 7, 2009 Looking good bud,see there is an advantage to being ill the lids the last thing to do on my list ,need to get my finger out and get the armour finished first. A wee question for the expers out there, many of you have painted the helmet white then laquered.I have tested some scrap cut from the top of the chestpiece and just laquered it.I was wondering if the parts really needed to be painted white first or a couple of layers of laquer would suffice. JoeR Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 Keith has used Halfords Appliance white in the past and we all know the quality of his builds. I would give that a try. Joe Quote
synaptyx Posted August 8, 2009 Author Report Posted August 8, 2009 Thanks Joe, I'm going to try a couple of different paints and laquers on the off-cuts. Quote
synaptyx Posted August 12, 2009 Author Report Posted August 12, 2009 It's the coffee's fault. I did the ears today. Added some rubber trim from Seals Direct too. Swept back left: Straighter right: Sealing the screws with hotglue: Oops, spot that alignment mistake? I had to re-drill that hole. Gappy? Weren't they all!? Quote
Merugear Posted August 13, 2009 Report Posted August 13, 2009 Wow, that one looks awesome! Keep up the good work! Well gappy? Mine's need car body putty to get the ears to close. Didn't you get a brow trim with the helmet Aaron? Mine did. Quote
synaptyx Posted August 13, 2009 Author Report Posted August 13, 2009 Yep, I got trim with mine too and no disrespect to Terrell ('cos this would add more than a few dollars to the cost of his awesome lids), I wanted the accurate stuff. http://www.sealsdirect.co.uk/bbCMS/shoppin...tDepartmentId=4 Brow trim = US52 square U Channel Neck trim = SWR150 S shaped window rubber Quote
