Laspector[TK] Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 That IS way cool. You say it bends well, have you tried to tear it? Will it rip? Quote

Billhag Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 Yes folks its finally here,..... You can roll down stairs, sit down in chairs, jump up and bounce on your knees. Ride a bike to a troop, even dive through a loop, and maybe swing from a rope in the trees Ā It's what we've all been waiting for.....introducing, the one,...the only.... Ā Unbreakable Bendy Trooper Armour (now with added bounce-back-ability) Ā Ā Ā Paul You deee MAN!!!! Quote
TK-4510[501st] Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 Yes...its cool but man that is soooooooo thin Paul! I will be waiting for cool pics of the finished product for sure! Quote
Mowskwoz[TK] Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 That is amazingly awesome. I can't wait to see more. I'll start saving my pennies now. Quote
troopermaster Posted July 3, 2009 Author Report Posted July 3, 2009 Thanks for all the great feedback.....awesome Ā This plastic may be thin, but it is like no other you have seen. You will not need more than 1mm thick, it's that good. It will not tear no matter how much I fold and twist it. You can bend it over backwards on itself and it just bends with no stress fractures or anything. I have a complete test suit in 1.5mm and that feels too rigid to me, though some may prefer a thicker guage and I can make in both 1mm and 1.5mm, no thicker. Ā I am not sure about prices just yet, we'll have to see how things pan out. I'll know more in a few months. I have a lot of things going on right now and trooper stuff is not top of my agenda unfortunately. As soon as I able to start making these again, you guys will be the first to know Quote
rapstertee Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 Hey Paul, do you think you could knock out an inexpensive mini-trooper lid out of this stuff? If so, any ideas on cost? Quote
troopermaster Posted July 3, 2009 Author Report Posted July 3, 2009 Unfortunately I cannot make anything from this material at the moment. More work is needed on my machine since it is much more tricky to pull than anything I have worked with before. I wasted a lot of plastic just pulling that torso. Quote
firebladejedi[TK] Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 It looks great Paul i think i need to be on that list Quote
Daetrin[Admin] Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 I agree with Stefan - this is armor porn. It's absolutely amazing and shows what an incredible artist you are, and also as Billy says innovative. Quote
bluehickey Posted July 3, 2009 Report Posted July 3, 2009 I love it! I hope it's available in a couple of months when I'm ready to get my armor! Quote
89Batman[TK] Posted July 4, 2009 Report Posted July 4, 2009 Paul please add me to that list!!!! That is just amazing mate! Quote

stukatrooper Posted July 4, 2009 Report Posted July 4, 2009 Fantastic mate,"If TM made Larger it would be the best larger in the world",and i for one would be toasting you with a cool one! Thanks for giving us good notice to allow us to get our trooper tokens in order Quote
james007bond[TK] Posted July 4, 2009 Report Posted July 4, 2009 Paul Ā I presume that this armour should be more comfortable to wear, not from just a bending over point of view but where normal ABS armour rubs or is tight will this kinda flex to accomodate? Ā Also, I expect the adeshive used to put it together must not include plastic weld of any kind due to the thickness of the armour...? I expect sales of E6000 to go up now... well asoon as you make the armour available that it... Quote
Verne Posted July 4, 2009 Report Posted July 4, 2009 Wow, it looks damn good! Ā I'm really curious to see the HDPE helmet!!! Quote
troopermaster Posted July 4, 2009 Author Report Posted July 4, 2009 The armour feels comfortable but it still feels like armour. It is lighter and more flexible than the acrylic capped ABS I am using but, it is still plastic and not rubber, so don't expect the armour to be flimsy and ultra flexibe because it isn't. It looks like regular glossy ABS, just flexes without cracking Quote
tkrestonva[TK] Posted July 4, 2009 Report Posted July 4, 2009 What's it like to work with? Most of us are accustomed to cutting, sanding, and painting with ABS or HDPE. Is the new material substantially different or more difficult to work? Ā Definitely add me to the interest list. Quote
troopermaster Posted July 4, 2009 Author Report Posted July 4, 2009 It's no different from any other plastic to work with. Quote
Amish Trooper Posted July 4, 2009 Report Posted July 4, 2009 It's no different from any other plastic to work with. Thanks for all the info Paul. Your stuff is fantastic Quote
