0889 Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 I just modified my old MRCE...(yes another mod) What have I done? I have replaced the ears Raised the brow widened the Teeth altered the eyes changed the aerators filled in the gap in around the mouth, but oddly forgot to do the back of the helmet...oh well it was completely stripped undercoated sprayed with silver tooth paste was applied over the silver to mask those areas which would later be the battle damage sprayed with a high gloss white hand painted the royal blue stripe and the decals, (which I'm going to redo, cos they look lousy) I finally gave it a touch of dirt...not too much though while there's a few errors (i know what they are), It was fun to do while I source my next set of armour. Thanks for reading Rick Quote
rapstertee Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 Looks so nice! You can hardly tell its an MR! Good work! Quote
InfantryQuinn[501st] Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 have you read the CRL for the SC? Not sure if its a rule or not... maybe it doesnt matter but the brow seems a little high... more of a TD type of brow goin on there Quote
4505 Marcel Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 Great job love the paint chips, did you under coat it a different colour and then use liquid masking? It does say it is supposed to be a hero helmet, so im assuming its the hero number of teeth and bubble lenses? I dont think anything is that set in stone so it possibly will be ok mate. Quote
bluehickey Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 What did you use to trim the brow? Hand saw? Electric saw? Quote
89Batman[TK] Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 What an amazing improvement! The ears really change the shape and make them a much better looking lid. Quote
cobra[TK] Posted June 24, 2009 Report Posted June 24, 2009 Great job love the paint chips, did you under coat it a different colour and then use liquid masking? That was my original post...need to get that user name deleted. Cheers. The helmet was taken back to the raw plastic, primed then undercoated. I then sprayed it with an aluminum coloured paint. I then used toothpaste (the gel kind) to mask the areas I wanted damaged and then coloured it with the gloss white. Once the paint was dry, I just scraped of the toothpaste...I now have paint chips Quote
cobra[TK] Posted June 24, 2009 Report Posted June 24, 2009 What did you use to trim the brow? Hand saw? Electric saw? I used the medical shears to cut most of the brow, I then used a dremel with a sander attachment to do the rest. it was really easy. Quote

The only trouble is the ears are made of hips, I've already noticed some little cracks appearing. Meh. Quote

I don't think there's that much difference between the two. ------------ Edited September 18, 2021 by gmrhodes13 link not working removed Quote

nothingrecorded Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 I absolutely love the job you have done on this, I have been heavily debating going TFU Commander on my MRCE/FX Suit of armor. To help me decide I have been playing through The Force Unleashed for the 3rd time this year. Do you have any higher resolution pictures of the full suite of armor? Quote
