TK-7980 Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 (edited) --------- Would these be alright to use if dyed white? Also, could anyone that has dyed their shoes white please share how well they're holding up? Edited January 15, 2022 by gmrhodes13 link not working removed Quote
TK-7980 Posted May 2, 2009 Author Report Posted May 2, 2009 1 day left. I don't wanna buy it and not have them be approved Quote
Madmartigan Posted May 2, 2009 Report Posted May 2, 2009 (edited) I'd say those look like pretty good candidates. Certainly 501st, and almost certainly EIB, approved once you dye/paint them white. Look for jodhpur or chelsea boots with the elastic on the sides. I have Shires Woodstock Jodphpurs in black that I am going to make white at some point. I'm pretty sure Daetrin has the same (if not a few other members, as well). They are not much different from the ones you listed: --------- Good luck! TK-7980 Posted May 2, 2009 Author Report Posted May 2, 2009 The elastic has to be white as well, correct? Quote
Madmartigan Posted May 2, 2009 Report Posted May 2, 2009 (edited) Paint it at the same time. BTW -- just got motivated by your thread and picked up these: -------- Edited January 15, 2022 by gmrhodes13 link not working removed Quote
TK-7980 Posted May 4, 2009 Author Report Posted May 4, 2009 (edited) I ended up being too late with the last auction, so how about these? -------- Edited January 15, 2022 by gmrhodes13 link not working removed Quote
Madmartigan Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 Eeek! I'd say skip them because of the stitching (inaccurate), the elastic not being low enough, and the tread on the bottom. Unless you see something much better pop up on eBay (and I just searched and couldn't find any that looked right that were less than $60-70, e.g. the Loakes), I'd suggest you just get the Shires from Barnstormers in my link. They're $36 plus shipping and you'll know what you're getting. -C Quote
TK-7980 Posted May 4, 2009 Author Report Posted May 4, 2009 I just didn't want to get killed with shipping from something overseas. thanks for your help Quote
Morphine Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 Looks like Cat might be back into rebuilding his armor again, hope all has been well and good luck on your build! Quote
TK-7980 Posted May 4, 2009 Author Report Posted May 4, 2009 (edited) Yes I am! And hopefully I'll get to keep it this time! Anyways, I found a really great deal from here: ------ 45$ USD, shipping included. From the US. Sorry for the same question over and over but, will these work? Madmartigan Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 Would be nice if there were pictures out of the box, but they look about right. Quote
TK-7980 Posted May 4, 2009 Author Report Posted May 4, 2009 Fantastic. "Rubber sole with tread, pull on loop at heel, and elastic sides. " Sounds about right, no zip ups or anything. Quote
spoox[501st] Posted May 22, 2009 Report Posted May 22, 2009 (edited) What about these? -------- Edited January 15, 2022 by gmrhodes13 link not working removed Quote
TKDUEUNO Posted May 22, 2009 Report Posted May 22, 2009 (edited) Definitely nono, too bulky and big. These are cheap ones and pretty nice, and cheap again: -------- Edited January 15, 2022 by gmrhodes13 link not working removed Quote
D_Smith Posted May 22, 2009 Report Posted May 22, 2009 Those ropers just don't look correct (the extra leather on the front). I ordered a pair of Shires that arrived in 10 days after placing the order. (In Hawaii to boot) Quote
Madmartigan Posted May 22, 2009 Report Posted May 22, 2009 ... (In Hawaii to boot) Heehee...you made a punny. Quote
spoox[501st] Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 Meh! I ordered the caboots ones in a size 10 so they will probably be too big for me lol. DrScholls gellings and big socks I guess will do the trick. Quote
