Daetrin[Admin] Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 Cold is one thing. Rain is one thing. Temp was 39 but the "feel" was 29. I had two sets of pants and three shirts but still after an hour my teeth were chattering as we lined up for the parade. Silly us - waiting an hour with no shelter. Worst was the flight gloves which when sodden were worthless. My hands were dark red / purple when I took them off at the end. It rained the whole time - 2.5 hours standing/walking in the cold rain. But the best part is when one of the wives told us that while the parade was boring, people started shouting when we showed up. Even though it was only four troopers, we made the parade. The feeling knowing you helped warm the day for all the little kids standing on the sides - priceless!! Quote
TK1491 Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 ugh...i feel damp just reading that. glad you made it through! Quote

TD2802[501st] Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 I actually thought it was more brutal than marching in summer heat. Oh well, they don't call it the 'All Fools Parade' for nothing, and the cops loved us too. Quote
HPDblues[TK] Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 Geesh!!!!!!! I caught a cold just reading this... T Quote
tkrestonva[TK] Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 Sounds like the life of an infantryman. Grunts are the same everywhere, just the equipment is different. Quote

ThayNerd[TK] Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 That sounds pretty cold, but a good time at the same time. Quote
HPDblues[TK] Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 I guess I'd better save my moaning and groaning about the weather here in Hawaii... Partly cloudy skies, scattered showers, Northeasternly winds making it a "cold" 75 degress F. The wind chill factor is a killa! T Quote
synaptyx Posted March 29, 2009 Report Posted March 29, 2009 Holy crap weather, Batman! This just goes to show what EIBs are really made of. Quote
Sandeman[TK] Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 And I'm so thankful we were wearing helmets to keep out heads dry and warm. The Jedi was soaked, and she soldiered on. I think she's made of tougher mettle. Quote
