Snap question

Does adding snaps to armor visibly increase the thickness of the gap? I see various opinions of snaps versus glue, and it seems to my newb logic that snaps would produce a gap.

When you see people talking about snaps it's for securing the strapping on the inside, not closing the armor to wear it.

I have seen people with snaps on calfs and thighs. Can't find the pics now.

yeah i've seen that too.. the pic where the snaps are used to attach the back of the calves peices..

I've never heard of using snaps on armor to help keep it closed... I guess that had not occurred to me because it would be difficult to hide, even painted white, and because velcro or gluing works well enough on their own or in combination.

 

I agree with your logic that using snaps would show a larger gap between armor pieces than gluing (which produces none) or velcro, which doesn't have much of one. But then I've never seen an example of snaps being used so I can't say for sure. It would be interesting to see how it was done - get to work finding those pics, Aaron.

That's a great find. I don't know how I feel about the calf snaps, but the rest of the straps and snaps will really help when I start putting my kit together.
