Tiepilot1138[TK] Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 (edited) Well, after a couple sewing lessons from my wife I've turned out my first attept at a neckseal. What do you think? Will it pass muster? This is also the shirt I plan on using (assuming the decal isn't visible/comes off) --------- Edited January 14, 2022 by gmrhodes13 link not working removed Quote
TK4205 Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 Post a pic Depending on the brand, You may re-heat the decal with a clothes iron, and peel it off. Others are screened on, in which case they can be painted/colored black. Quote

ThayNerd[TK] Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 That looks fine to me; my first neckseal was one similar to the design of yours. Quote
2155TK[TK] Posted March 3, 2009 Report Posted March 3, 2009 That neckseal looks great bro! Would you mind sharing on the material used and how you sewed it together? did you place foam or something in between then sewed straight lines to make the ribbing? thanks! Luis Quote
Tiepilot1138[TK] Posted March 3, 2009 Author Report Posted March 3, 2009 It's a plain black heavyweight t-shirt I picked up for $2.50 at a craft store. I measured my neck, added an inch in height (1/2 when folded) and 4 inches in length for velcro overlap. I sewed along one short end and the long end so I had what resembled a sock, then stuffed it with some sort of fluffy stuffing (I don't know what it's called, looked like the halloween spider webs you decorate with before it's pulled apart). I sewed the other short end closed, and then sewed the ribs. Getting the stuffing even and keeping the ribs equally spaced were the hardest parts, but if you go slow it comes out fine. I didn't put any sort of bib on it, since my shirt has a high neck. Quote
riveting Posted March 3, 2009 Report Posted March 3, 2009 Looks good Will you also be darkening the lenses? just curious Quote
synaptyx Posted March 3, 2009 Report Posted March 3, 2009 I didn't put any sort of bib on it, since my shirt has a high neck.I had wondered about that. It's probably a lot easier to deal with. Quote
