Some movies I loved when they came out but don't age well, or else I loved them but not enough to watch them again and again. Surprisingly the Incredibles I can seem to watch over and over, same with many Ridley Scott movies. "Love, Actually" is great. I think Iron Man will also be one of those classics that lives on forever, much more so than say the Spider Man movies, great as they were on first viewing. "Bigger, Faster, Stronger" had me glued to 1am to finish watching it, though it's one of the rare documentaries to do so.

For the most part I tend to want to watch movies I've never seen before, rather than re-watch ones I have already.

Those old horror movies are good. Really takes me back to my childhood. Pre Star Wars. King Kong, Frankenstein, etc. Speaking of classics, how about Silent Running and some of the old Planet of the Apes movies and just about any Ray Harryhausen monster movie.

Another Blade Runner fan here!

Some of the films I like:

Alien 1, 2 and 3 are really great films.

I love John Carpenter too. The Thing is a seriously good film.

Cheers

Well, to chime in here, I would have to say that iRobot, Star Trek (Rath of Khan), Saving Private Ryan, Shrek 1,2,3 and Blade Runner. :trooper:

What other movies do people really enjoy besides Star Wars?

For me, it has to be Blade Runner. Right up there with SW in my eyes.

I'm also a HUGE WWII movie fan. Love movies like Der Untergang, Letters from Iwo Jima, SPR, The Pianist, Stalingrad, Band Of Brothers, Flags of our Fathers, Die Letzten Tage and of course the new Valkyrie movie.

So, what other movies guys?

In case anyone has'nt guessed from my avitar :P I really like Logan's Run it has unfortunately been forgotten by many movie fans with the advent of Star Wars. Never the less it is an absolute master piece which I consider to be one of the best Science Fiction films of all time. Superbly acting by Michael York, Jenny Agutter and Peter Ustinov combined with academy award winning special effects made this movie one of the most memorable I've ever seen. I think I've watched it about a hundred times.

I can't believe they haven't remade Logan's Run.

But, actually, if you take Logan's Run and mix it with THX 1138 you pretty much get The Island. Which was actually a pretty good movie I thought.

I may be the only one in the world with this opinion. I love Bladerunner, yes. I saw it the first time at the world Science Fiction convention in Chicago in like 81 or 82. My deal is-- I HATE the director's cut. Why can't I just buy the theatrical version by itself on DVD? I don't need 18,000 different versions. I loved the original. I loved that it was like an old detective movie with Harrison Ford's narration. A while back I let my girlfriend watch it. We only had the director's cut and she said it sucked. She could not understand what was going on and I have to agree with her. If you've never seen it and know nothing about it, the director's cut is awful. Too hard to understand. Now I know all you BR lover's are probably screaming Blasphemy right now, but which did YOU see first? Give me the original anyday.

I concur. I have a problem with Directors popping back to mess about with their original edits. YOU TOO GEORGE!!!

I loved Harrison Ford's 'forced' laconic narration, even if he hated doing it.

I'm a huge Blade Runner fan as well-- crazed enough that I convinced my coworker to name her new baby boy Deckard. :D How awesome is that kid?

Some of my all time faves: (besides SW)

The Usual Suspects, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Glen Garry Glenn Ross (I worship David Mamet), Rushmore, Royal Tenanbaums, Life Aquatic, Henry V (Kenneth Branaugh version), Pulp Fiction, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Shaun of the Dead, Ronin, Bridge On the River Kwai, E.T., American Beauty, Airplane!, The American President, A Few Good Men (I'm an Aaron Sorkin junky), It's A Wonderful Life, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Better Off Dead, Caddyshack, City of Lost Children, Se7en, Amelie, Princess Bride, Cool Hand Luke, Zulu, A Fish Called Wanda, Swimming With Sharks, American History X, Snatch, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Life of Brian, High Fidelity, Lord of the Rings, Saving Private Ryan, Brazil, Lawrence of Arabia, Grosse Point Blank, Miller's Crossing, O Brother Where Art Thou, Raising Arizona, The Out of Towners, Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, Last King of Scotland, Goodfellas, Heat, Casino, The Untouchables, Children of Men...

The list goes on and on and on. I'm a big film geek.

For TV, I have no problem whatsoever defending Band Of Brothers as the single greatest project ever developed for television, EVER.

I'm also a big fan of The West Wing, Firefly, LOST, The Unit, and M*A*S*H.

The Young Ones, Flying Circus, Sarah Silverman, Daily Show, Colbert, and about a billion other comedy shows..

I could rattle on forever... in fact, I kinda did, huh? :P

I agree Laspector, the Island was very Logans Runish, with regards to the re-make, they've been planning it for the last 15 years but legal BS and other problems have constantly gotten in the way. The latest on the LR re-make, and this news is'nt exactly new...

Sept 11, 2007

Commercial director Joseph Kosinski is in final negotiations to develop and direct "Tron," described as "the next chapter" of Disney's 1982 cult classic. Sean Bailey is producing via the Live Planet banner, as is Steven Lisberger, who co-wrote and directed the original film.

Kosinski, who last month signed on to helm the remake of "Logan's Run" for Warner Bros. Pictures, will oversee the visual development of the project and have input on the script, which is being written by "Lost" scribes Eddie Kitsis and Adam Horowitz. Story details are being kept secret.

She knows it's from Blade Runner, and is totally onboard with it. She's a big sci-fi fan, and her husband designs fantasy board games.

Lots of geekery in that family. :)

The conversation started off as a joke-- "Let's think of a super macho, MANLY name for your kid so he can score chicks.... something like Brick, or Stone, or Dirk Mantooth!"

I mentioned that if I ever had a son, I wanted to name him Decker, or Deckard-- it must've struck a chord, 'cause she upped and stole it, that fink. :D

Anyone remember 'Westworld'? It was a Michael Crichton story with Yul Bryner playing an android gunslinger gone beserk. Couldn't get enough viewing that back in the 70s.

Oh yeah. Bryner was supremely creepy in it. The sequel, "Futureworld" was terrible though.

I remember being a little wary of the animatronics at a childhood Disneyland vacation because of that movie. I thought James K. Polk was gonna jump out of The Hall of Presidents and punch my sister in the throat. :P
