ok i saw it here but cannot find it now, what is the grey color used for the thermal detonator? thanks

Tom

For the TD you can go for Humbrol No.5 Admiral Grey or Testors - 1138 Gray

Most seem to be going for the Testers now for their helmets as Humbrol appear to be making their

grey much lighter then it used to be

Here's a quick reference for the rest of the colours

I think the 'Testers' are as follows;

Ab Buttons

1772 Model Master - Blue Angel Blue FS15050

Ab Buttons, Frown & traps

1138 Testors - Gray

Black

Testor No.1747 = Humbrol No.21

Model Master - Gloss Black FS17038 1/2 Oz.

Blue

Testor No.1511 = Humbrol No.15

Testor No.2715 = Humbrol No.14

(Model Master French Blue)

I hope this helps mate :)

I simply sprayed my TD canister with grey primer - after all it wasn't painted in 1977, they used standard british pvc pipe, which comes in a mid-grey very close to that of the humbrol grey. looks fine.

Hi Billy.

I also got the #14 here, for the tube stripes.

But some say its #48, they used as for the tube stripes.

What was used, the 14 or the 48.

Seems like some ANH helmets, was also painted whit #15 and not only the ab plate.

Cheers mate :)

Its an hard one to nail down 100% because paint fading / aging over the years on the

orignals, and also lighting in photos or on film can change the shade as we see it.

Ghost - Scott, did a comparison a while ago and the general consensus was that

Humbrol #14 looked the closest

Don't worry about the helmet not matching the armour... they didn't match in the movies !!

My MRCE is done in Halfords Applicance White, and the armour has a reddish tint... hardly noticable TBH.
