Hi FISD,

A couple of months ago I watched the feature on Netflix about the 501st Legion and discovered this amazing community of Star Wars fans and dedicated costumers.  The best advice I've found at this early stage is to do loads of research so I've enjoyed many hours of poring over numerous posts, gleaning knowledge and building up an idea of which costume to start with and how to go about it.

Whilst I enjoyed the prequels and sequels as they were released, I grew up watching the OT so these episodes represent the classic Stormtrooper for me personally.  For a newcomer such as myself there are a number of factors inclining me towards the ESB TK. As they're UK-based RS Propmasters seem a logical choice and have a good rep for screen authenticity.

I'm really looking forward to both the build phase and out trooping, joining the 'bad guys who do good'.

Hello Paul and welcome to FISD! :salute: The feature on Netflix is awesome, and it explains exactly what we do and what we are about! Many go with the OT Stormtroopers, and we have a lot of detailed build threads of those particular customes, which I suspect you've had a look at already?

Is the extra levels of accuracy something you've been looking into, Expert Infantry and Centurion? :)

The first step is already done, and that's the hardest one - just picking one custome to start with! :laugh1: I know the excitement that you feel and the excitement you have ahead of you, so we're really looking forward to see your journey unfold! Congratulations on finding your way here, and for taking the decision to join the best community in the world that gives so much joy to so many!

Welcome to FISD Paul.

The iconic OT Stormtrooper is one of the most popular costumes in the 501st and a fan favourite.

Looking forward to seeing your build thread and approval photos in the near future.

Hi Paul, welcome to FISD!

I see you are UK based, have you made contact with your local Garrison yet?

Check out and sign up on the forums of UKG and ISG. Where you will find additional help and information from local Troopers in your area.

Good luck on your white armour build.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. Lots of further links to check out, thanks for sending that one @gmrhodes13, I'll add it to my reading list.

Yes @Nairy, I'm looking at going for the higher levels of approval and hope to aim to incorporate them into my initial build to avoid remaking some elements at a later date but I'll have to see what is possible.

I've registered with UKG @Sithping but not come across ISG yet so will check them out, thanks for the tip.

Hope you have the tissues handy, watching The Heart of the Empire.

For many, it is the reason why we do what we do.

You are joining the biggest family in the world, a network of wonderful people from around the globe. You will make lifelong friends, and you will love every minute of it.

Welcome to the FISD.

Pretty sure I've trooped with most if not all the people in Heroes of the Empire. It was filmed the year I joined if I remember right. Lots of great people, many are still trooping.

Not sure where in the UK you are but between the UK Garrison and Imperial Scottish we have pretty good coverage and lots of events all year round.

RS is a pretty good choice but do check out other options, and I would encourage you to build your own kit if at all possible.

See you at a troop :smiley-sw013:

Hi Paul, welcome to the FISD,  Good plan to build to level 3 specifications from the start.  It will make it much easier.  Looking forward to following your journey.

Man that was a tough one to watch, really brings it home just how impactful the work of the 501st is.

AH yes. Your post made me go watch it again. It's one of the reasons I decided to join the 501st. I love the smaller "community" Troops.
