Snaps & Elastic

My local Lowe's didn't carry snaps or elastic for strapping the armor and I was wondering where I can get these items.

You can get all your snaps and elastic on ebay. The good thing is you just type in what you want, buy it and it gets delivered to your door. I've found that you can buy full rolls of elastic for the same price as a few metres in the shops. Whoever you get your snaps from will probably sell the setting tool as well.

I use Tandy Leather Factory Line 24 Snaps. They have a very strong hold. They come in packs of varying quantities. Here is a link to one of their kits that's available at Tandy Leather retail stores as well as at Michael's craft stores:

In my experience, the type Wal-Mart sells unsnap too easily when you don't want them to.

I got my suit from CostumeJunkie and the snaps where really weak holding. I went to a local tent and tarp maker in my hometown and they showed me a brand of snaps by Pull the Dot. They only go on one way and only come off the same. I've tried my damnedest to pull these apart from anyother way and I couldn't.

 

For the elastic I checked out Jo-Ann's Fabrics and I think they had the 1" but no 2" so I done a general search for it on the net and found Seattle Fabrics and they seemed reasonable so I orders and few yards of each and some velco loop (the soft part of the two). Once it gets here I'll have the tent and tarp maker make the straps for me.
