Seeking advice on how to fix my FO TK armour

Recommended Posts

Team,

I am from Saskatchewan, requiring to fix my armour for Legion's approval.  My goal is to join the Legion as a FO TK (The Last Jedi/The Rise of Skywalker).

There are several items which need to get either fixed or re-painted as follows:

1. Helmet (Paint/Finish issues);

2. Spats;

3. Holster;;

4.. Blaster

Any advice?  Or if you know anyone who m I can commission to get either item fixed near Saskatchewan, please let me know.

Thank you so much!

The Force Awakens
Please note from the images below:
1) The ‘frown' on the helmet does not have any visible ’teeth’.
2) The clip greeblies on the sides and the top have the cutout

The Last Jedi/The Rise of Skywalker
Please note from the images below:
1) The ‘frown' on the helmet does contains 7 visible ’teeth’ on top of the mesh grille.
2) The clip greeblies on the sides and the top do not have the cutout

Your helmet most closely resembles a helmet from The Last Jedi/The Rise of Skywalker as the frown has the teeth, but you have a clip greebie from The Force Awakens on the left side (see below)

Spats

The spats are generally identical between the two versions, but unfortunately the clip greeblies on your spats are reversed.

Holster

Your holster looks to be assembled and mounted properly, but it needs to appear as a single piece rather than multiple colors where the individual components are visible.

This can likely be achieved with paint/epoxy to give it the appearance that it is part of the thigh armor.

Fitting
From the rear photo there appears to be a significant amount of space between the back armor and your back. The back armor should be tight to your back without noticeable space between it and the detonator.

The rear photo seems to indicate that there might be a problem with how the chest armor attaches to the abdomen/back armor as there isn't a clean attachment.

This could mean that the armor needs to be trimmed more in these areas to improve the fit, but if you look at the reference image on the left it shows how form fitting this armor needs to be.

Additionally, it looks like your thermal detonator is not mounted tightly enough. If this is done with velcro it may have just come loose, but there should be no visible space between the detonator and the rear abdomen armor.

Paint/Finish Issues
There are a number of noticeable issues with your helmet with respect to paint, pinholes, finishing, etc.
Generally a resin cast helmet is going to have small holes due to air in the cast and these are expected to be filled with spot putty/bondo, and in some cases a filler primer can do the trick, but in this case they are still noticeable.
Additionally there are a number of areas where there is extra material that is either left over from the helmet cast or is extra paint that has been applied. This is most noticeable around the clip greeblies, but is also present on the frown or when there is a transition.
There are also a number of places where the black edging is not sharp, or the black paint does not fully cover the area.
Finally, there are a number of sections of visible orange-peel on the helmet. If you are unfamiliar with this term, it is when there is rougher texture similar to the skin of an orange that is the result of the helmet surface not being smooth enough to achieve the desired reflective finish.

There is also a spot on the chest just to the left of the greeblie where it looks like some roughness was introduced, likely a result of a problem with the vacuum forming process.

This should be sanded down to be smooth to match the opposite side.

Blaster

Blasters are not required to achieve approval due to the number of restrictions in place as to when they are allowed, but in order to troop with a prop weapon, it still must go through the regular approval process to ensure screen accuracy. There are a couple of issues with your blaster. Firstly, the noticeable print lines are not ideal. We would prefer the prop to be as realistic as possible and free of any evidence on how it was constructed. We generally will allow weapons where the print lines are not obvious, but there are a number of surfaces on your blaster that should be smoothed. Additionally there are a few issues with respect to paint. The screws/rivets must be colored to match the reference and I have circled a couple of other areas that are the incorrect color.

Have you made contact with your GML (Garrison Member Liaison) as to these issues? If so, what was their guidance?

To give a better idea of what these concerns may be, you may want to show photos here.
