Captain Phasma Build General Discussion + Help

Hello, new to the forum and 501st altogether. I am looking to start a Captain Phasma build as my first project, though I do have quite a bit of prop and cosplay experience, and I do professional paint work as a part of my job but I have never built any sort of troop replica armor yet. After some online research (and finding the awesome resource thread for new folks) I am trying to figure out an approach for the hard armor pieces. It seems like the TLJ armor from Denuo Novo might be a good base option, here are the differences I was able to spot (please call out any others you all might notice)
- Phasma's Chest plate doesn't have that groove at top center on the standard JLA armor
- Codpiece is more triangular than the trooper piece 
- The wearer's right thigh includes a base for a weapon holster (I honestly can't tell if this is a slightly different design or standard?)
- Need pieces for her boot armor not present in standard kits 

 

Approach: 
My thought process is to get this base armor then make the minor mod to the chest plate by filling in that section with putty and sanding it flush. I'd just need to find a modeler to help me with the codpiece and boot armor at that point to get those pieces created. I have seen a few helmet options online so I am confident I can figure something out there. Then I can sand/prep it all and chrome/weather all pieces to match specs. 

 

For the soft pieces, I am seeing a lot of great options for undersuits, neck seals, and even her cape so I would be open to getting someone else to help me from a commission POV since I expect to spend a ton of my time already on all of the armor bits. I am also not very experienced in sewing and rather continue to build that skill working on other projects without specific patterning requirements. 

 

If anyone happens to have feedback on my approach for the armor, resources/files or commission recommendations, or better yet has done Phasma - please feel free to thread! I'll admit this build is terrifying to me, but she is my favorite character and I can't imagine building anyone else.

One supplier was Jim Tripon Jimmiroquai, he has a build thread on RPF, unfortunately the forum won't allow a direct link, here is the address and other links in his thread

 

There are differences between the TFA and TLJ so make sure you read both CRL's (costume reference library) before deciding.

 

I've not seen any full files for Phasma but again check out the Facebook group.
