AJCG Posted December 18, 2008 Report Posted December 18, 2008 Hi guys, As far as I know and based on my readings and researches the originals ANH stormtrooper helmets(stunt) were sprayed with white automotive paint. But was the same technique applied for the originals ESB helmets? I have been gathering pictures of ESB stormtroopers helmets lately from different forums and websites and I noticed that the white paint looks thicker, I did not see any paint drips... By any chance, could they have been brushed on painted? Thanks a lot in advance. A Quote
TK-1287 Posted December 18, 2008 Report Posted December 18, 2008 If they were brushed on, I think we'd see some pretty nasty brush marks. Quote
riveting Posted December 19, 2008 Report Posted December 19, 2008 I read somewhere that they sand blasted/beadblasted the old paint work off As for the painting stage, I have it on file somewhere but I can't find it at the mo Quote
AJCG Posted December 20, 2008 Author Report Posted December 20, 2008 I read somewhere that they sand blasted/beadblasted the old paint work off As for the painting stage, I have it on file somewhere but I can't find it at the mo I am afraid you are right . Matt emailed me and he shared some thoughts :"The test I have read about the ESB helmets is that they stripped the helmets first and then sandblasted them to make the paint stick better. I think they also had someone paint them that really could. I think AA sprayed the helmets and when this was done, it was done in very cold weather and the paint ran, by no fault of his own" It also looks that some helmets were sprayed 2 or 3 times. Any other thoughts? Cheers A Quote
