Hi everyone.

This is my in my RS kit. I'd like to go for level 2 but I feel the need for some feedback of more experienced people regarding the fitment of my suit.

I'm around 187cm tall so I think that's the reason I have quite some room between my thighs and shins but i'm still waiting on my boots.

Looks like you're well on your way trooper! For fitting advice I think the biggest thing that jumps out to me is that your thighs are pretty high up. By dropping them down a maybe 2-3cm you'll both close the gap with your shins but it will also drastically improve the fit of your posterior armor. Right now the thighs are overlapping it. When you get your boots in they should scoot the shins up higher to close the gap even further. Lastly make sure you have an even gap of armor on each side of your thighs. Right now your right has a much bigger gap than the left around the codpiece

Also I'm not sure how much padding is in your helmet but I'd take as much out of the top as you can to get the helmet to sit lower.

Very little neck showing:

gPW67ck.jpg?1

Lots more room to pull your thighs below your posterior armor

Some more minor/easy fixes to consider especially for level 2/3 would be to make sure the cover strips aren't excessively long. Some especially over the front thighs look like they could use some trimming down. Also I like to center my belt center button over the raised edge that goes down to the codpiece. That will center your drop boxes too. And ideally you'll want the bottom buttons touching or half covered by the belt for level 2/3.
When working on your strapping you'll want to make sure your ab and kidney plates are flush with each other. Also make sure your kidney and back have a minimal and even gap. I think some under suit material might be bunching up in a few places like in your back and around your shoulder bells. Also just make sure your TD clips are pushed all the way down. These are pretty easy fixes and I'm sure these were some quick fitting photos but I thought I'd say something for when you're ready for submitting them. Good little things to keep in mind

But again for overall fitting I'd definitely take those thighs down a bit and see if you can work your helmet down lower. Overall looking forward to your build. Looks like you're really close!

Hi Jbar

Thanks for the reply and the insight!

I will take these into account in the coming weeks when trying to finish this suit.

Hey all

Did some fitment changes, trimmed some coverstrips and finally got my boots as well!

The helmet fitting is still a WIP as im also trying to get fans installed in there.

I know the belt still doens't line up but that was snapped together already so I don't think I can change that much about it.

Looks like your shoulder straps are sitting up, you can add elastic which may help them or heat and bend (hot water bath most use)

Posterior is pushing outwards on the side, V tabs can help this

You could also fille the gap between the thigh ridges, Sugru or ABS paste is normally used

Having longer legs I added some velcro to the top front of my boots and inside the shins to raise them a little, cuts down the open black area at the knees.

Obviously calves are open too ;)

With a heat gun (with practice ) or oven you bend strips of ABS plastic into the shape of a V, only glue one side and the other remains free to allow movement when you bend. Just helps stop the butt plate from pushing back from the back plate.

I'm not a DO/GML but as for the belt could you try removing the female snaps from your belt and making new holes next to where they are now? This will be unseen as the belt covers everything

Do you have any images of the 'v tab' in an actual kit perhaps ?

That is quite and easy sulotion that I did not think of. Thanks! This will probably be the way I go about it.

Here's one with multiple V tabs, albeit you normally just need them on the ends

Hey again I got a question about the gap filling for the thighs. I used abs paste to glue coverstrips so I was thinking of using that to fill tha gaps as well, but would i need to polish it back up again then ? Or is saning it down enough ?

Personally I would sand and polish for a better finish.

Although screen references show they were a little rough

Hopefully the @Deployment Officer Team with chime in with their thoughts

For the gaps in the back I used white Sugru. It got me through my EIB approval

Hello there! :)

Can you take a picture of your left and right side ab/kidney connections? (the outside, not the inside)

Is your backplate overlapping the ab plate? Because it either looks like that or the rivets are placed very close to the edge of the ab!

Hey Nairy

The backplate is not overlapping the ab, if anything theright side of the ab is sometimes slightly overlapping the backplate.

And you’re very right, the rivet placement is not what it should be 😅 chances are I might have to re-do them at some point.

Can you take a picture like this, but on the other side?

Perfect thank you!

They look very close together, indeed!

I'm not sure if you've cut too much off from the front for them to be moved! I think that ideally for the fitment of the AB/Kidney that we'd first have to straighten out the AB like this
y8zNEmD.png

Then we have this diagram showing how they should sit:

Don't worry about the already existing holes too much, as you can create ABS paste from any off cuts that you get, so the color will match!

Here's the tutorial that @gmrhodes13 linked earlier:

Yes haha I didn't do enough research when starting the assembly of this suit 😅 I'd love to put together another one with all of the knowledge I have now!

I imagine this might be an issue when trying to ask for EI approval if I keep the rivets the way they are now?

It shouldn't be a problem for Expert Infantry if we read the CRL:

OPTIONAL Level two certification (if applicable):

  • Any gap between the abdomen and kidney armor is no more than 1/2" (12.5mm) wide.
    • Any shims used to achieve this effect are of a similar material and color as the abdomen and kidney armor. Shims fit flush and seams are allowed.
  • A split (bifurcated) or single cap rivet is present on the lower tab (cod area) of the abdomen armor.
    • Rivet does not need to be functional.
    • Rivet on must be brass or silver in color, approximately 5/16" (8mm) in diameter and is not painted.

Okay that's great. I can worry about it after haha 😅.

The image you shared about my 3 rivets on the side, the red line is the line that they should be in right ?
