Howdy Folks. I found some photos of myself in high school wearing my MovieFX armor. This had a three peice helmet and was made of HIPS. I saved up three paychecks and sent two money orders to Germany IIRC. That was over twenty years ago and a lot has changed, I no longer have my old armor for one. Recently I found a rotocast of a screen used Move Along helmet in my garage from the same time period, it sparked interest in me to recreate some old props that I miss. Hopefully I can contribute more to the 3D Depositary as in the past two years have successfully self taught CAM/CAD.  You can find my ANH Hovi tips and soon I will have some ROTJ tips as well. Have a great day!

P.S. I Think I'm going to buy a MovieFX suit again, although I love the TM suit.

Hello Vic! Your Hovi-Mix files look great, and I can't wait to see what you conjure up next! :peace: Do you have any plans on joining the legion?

Yes I certainly do, however I have not decided which costume I want to build for approval.

May I humbly suggest an ANH-stunt? Not that I'm biassed or anything. :laugh1:

Glad to see your intro thread and I hope you hang around for a long time Vic!!! :jc_doublethumbup:

Hi Vic! Great throwback photos!

I'll second Adam's suggest of an ANH-S. :smiley-sw013: Additionally, here's a link to a thread listing reputable armor makers that may be of interest to you as you begin your journey to join the 501st.

Thanks! Since my first go around was an ANH hero, I’m tempted to try a RO build but I know I would be in for quite a bit more work to get everything fitting and looking correctly. The strapping and garter is very attractive when completed though.

We don't have as many ROs out there as I'd like! If you are excited about the thought, you should definitely entertain it! :D

Welcome again Vic, generally I recommend going with the costume that means the most to you.

Your throwback photos tell me you are in the right places for sure, now it's a matter of your first love of a costume.

With the humble original trilogy Stormtrooper, you do have a few choices.

ANH-Stunt, ANH-Hero version, then ESB, which is an ANH stunt with a few small differences, then RotJ which has even more differences.

Nair mentioned the R1 Stormtrooper, a slightly modernised version which has extra details, sharper lines, but is more limited in availability with 2 main makers currently available.

Which ever way you go, you will have a far more accurate Stormtrooper than the old FX kit.

Looking forward to seeing which way you go and watching you progress on a new build.

I’ve been putting some thought into it and poking around other detachments. The only other trooper which caught my eye over the past several years has been the Death trooper. Since I still have  the same build as I did twenty years ago, 5”10 150lbs, a lot of the newer suits are build around larger folks and it shows in the chest plate. Ideally if I built an RO or DT it would have to be build around something lineage rather than completely new sculpt. I think this might be possible if I piece together parts from a couple kits. I put together a spread sheet of the cost including hardware, gaskets, boots, gloves and helmet. Price it to around the upper end of my budget but I believe if I put considerable amount of work into my next armor I will be happier with the outcome. Thanks for the advice and thorough responses I appreciate it.
