javamonkey Posted April 25, 2008 Author Report Posted April 25, 2008 WHOA...hold the phone...whats the story on that Tie helmet!?! The TIE Helmet and the TK were a package deal. The TIE came from LFL also. Both pieces were used for reference for the Don Post Deluxe helmets. You can see remnants of the clay used to fill the gap between the face and fighter pilot helmet and scoring down the middle of the helmet where the mold was removed. There is also hand written pencil notation on this helmet. It would be awesome if somebody with more knowledge of these helmets could analyze them and compare them to others out there. (The TIE was assembled wrong with that piece above the eyes - it should be on the inside - That's how I got it. In the middle of the last pic is a TE that I got a long time ago) Should this be in a different thread? Quote
Amish Trooper Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 I would love to get a nice tie bucket... Quote
FON Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 I'm eagerly awaiting this one. The SE helmet is one I've wanted to do for a long time... Quote

Darksaber212[TK] Posted April 26, 2008 Report Posted April 26, 2008 I'm in. Would be nice to add to the collection. Looking forward to this. Quote
riveting Posted April 26, 2008 Report Posted April 26, 2008 I'm definitely interested, love to have an SE edition in the collection Quote
javamonkey Posted April 26, 2008 Author Report Posted April 26, 2008 COOL! That definatly looks like a DP deluxe, witch the Fang helmet I have is derived from.. As I understand it, SgtFang got the mold that DP used to make the Deluxe, while I got the original helmet DP used to make the mold. Quote
Star Wars Helmets Posted April 26, 2008 Report Posted April 26, 2008 Its interesting that the TIE was assembled incorrectly. However the original TIE in the LFL archives is also assembled incorrectly so it shows why they made the mistage! As you have said that strip should be on the inside, covering the gap where the face plate ends and the front of the x-wing hemisphere's. Like you have said these will be very cool helmets as they have real provenance attached to them. I look forward to hearing more Cheers Jez Quote

riveting Posted May 6, 2008 Report Posted May 6, 2008 So these would be the Helmet's seen in the Gnarls Barkley Crazy (MTV thing) Video? Tour Lid's! or am I off base ? Also any update's Quote
PunkRockTuba Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 that TIE helmet looks awesome, especially the score mark. I love old stuff like that where you can see that people worked on it and left something behind. Quote
slasher x Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 I really really hope you go ahead with this! I have a soft spot for the ROTJ/SE helmets. I dunno why, I just do. Quote
firebladejedi[TK] Posted May 16, 2008 Report Posted May 16, 2008 It sure would be nice to get a rotj helmet for display Quote
BactaReality Posted May 31, 2008 Report Posted May 31, 2008 Guaranteed. The challenge here is this helmet is glued together. It may be a wrong choice, but I do not want to disassemble it. As much as it is great source for new ROTJ/SE helmets, it also is a piece of SW prop history. I'd like to retain that if possible. That might seem nostalgic but it's a reality for me. The hand written notes in pencil are priceless to me. I can mold the thing. Already started to. The real challenge are the ears. I need to remove them in order to get an accurate mold made but they are glued on. Well, considering it's lineage, it's completely understandable wanting to keep this intact. I for one would'nt care if it was a one piece. I still really want one of these either way. If I really wanted to though, I could cut the ears out, then fill in the gap where the ears used to be. Reattach the ears and voila! Quote
TK-4510[501st] Posted May 31, 2008 Report Posted May 31, 2008 You could mold the ears from the outside, then make a cast of that and then sculpt it back down to a vacuum formable size. Quote
TK-172 Posted June 25, 2008 Report Posted June 25, 2008 Geez...I just posted a WTB in the BUY/SELL topic for a Jedi helmet...though, I am most happy to join in here I would love to get my hands on one...ready right now to get in line... if you should decide to start one Quote
Nairod Posted July 6, 2008 Report Posted July 6, 2008 You were very lucky to get these helmets. I really like the stormtrooper. The Mic tips looks like the Tour Suit (or exhibition stormtrooper) You wrote it was made in 1995...like the Special Edition trooper. Maybe the same mold. Quote
SuperTrooper Posted July 7, 2008 Report Posted July 7, 2008 Just a heads up, Java monkey the thread's starter has not been on the FISD in 2 months. Quote
riveting Posted July 7, 2008 Report Posted July 7, 2008 does anyone here, know or have contact with java monkey on another forum?? this looked potentially like a really cool project Quote
TK-4510[501st] Posted July 7, 2008 Report Posted July 7, 2008 This thread is over a year old...... Quote
