Putty for reinforce edges

Hello guys, my chest armor has crack in several places along the edges, i was thinking to reinforce those edges with car putty.

 

Has anyone here done it?

 

Do you recommend it?

Car putty won't be strong enough, I normally rough up the area with coarse sandpaper then glue (not E6000 as it's not strong enough) a piece of ABS plastic behind to add some strength back.

 

Some use superglue and fabric, some use resin and fibreglass, some JB weld as that is sandable, really up to what you have and want to use.

I did something like that with another part of the costume, but i glue it using acetone, is difficult to do, extreme care is a must since the possibility of melting the armor is very real.

I thought putty would be strong enough for that
