Startide[TK] Posted May 8, 2022 Report Posted May 8, 2022 That's a somewhat silly question, but I spent quite a bit of time on google and FISD downloading reference pictures for the sterling L2A3, and eventually found in my download folder a zip file with very good templates / blueprints, that look like that : It's the best I found so far, but I can't for the life of me remember where on the FISD I found that zip package. Also : it's in imperial sizes, maybe there is a metric version somewhere ? I would like to make a spreadsheet that allows you to set your tube diameter and then determine all the sizes to be at the right scale. Quote
gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted May 8, 2022 Report Posted May 8, 2022 Can't say I've seen those specific versions but my go to has been There are multiple pages as well as some zip files on a few pages Quote
Startide[TK] Posted May 8, 2022 Author Report Posted May 8, 2022 Well they are available here : https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=4702 But I have not idea where from on the forum I found them, and I don't know who made them either... It's my understanding that the initial work started years ago for the "best template" has never been completed ? Quote
gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted May 8, 2022 Report Posted May 8, 2022 I've had a look through and I've never seen these files before, they could have been added to the forum pre my signing up, from there on anyone that references templates are the Zeroroom ones, no mention of the ones in your links. Even going through the template areas I still can't find anything, could mean the original thread had broken links and was moved to archive sections. Funny when you hover over your link it shows only 115 downloads so couldn't have been used very much. There was also another site BBC which unfortunately is no longer available http://www.imperial-fleet.com/BBC/, this was started before I joined, had lots of blueprints and templates so they may have come from there. Web archive link: https://web.archive.org/web/20080228020330/http://www.imperial-fleet.com/BBC/ Blueprint area: https://web.archive.org/web/20120905200812/http://www.imperial-fleet.com/BBC/community/viewforum.php?f=3 https://web.archive.org/web/20100113215907/http://www.imperial-fleet.com/BBC/community/viewforum.php?f=9 I'm pretty sure the "best templates" was completed, there is a link in the first post, I used those for my first build but that was some time ago and my memory is not as sharp as it used to be. Startide[TK] Posted May 9, 2022 Author Report Posted May 9, 2022 I have downloaded that zip last week, so clearly I found it somewhere on the forums Not sure how to figure out where I found them though. For the "best template" I found those : But a lot of measurements are not available in that one. I would like to be able to input the correct distances in fusion 360, and not just eyeball it with the templates used as canvas... Quote
Startide[TK] Posted May 9, 2022 Author Report Posted May 9, 2022 Found those : Chrome strongly disagrees with downloading that file, but you can force it. Quote
trooper96[501st] Posted May 11, 2022 Report Posted May 11, 2022 Have you seen this template for the receiver/shroud? I used it for reference when creating my model. PlayfulWolfCub’s 1.5” diameter (38.1mm) Sterling receiver template https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=24156 Quote
Startide[TK] Posted May 11, 2022 Author Report Posted May 11, 2022 That's a good one ! I was told about wolfcub but couldn't pinpoint where his work was. Thanks for the help ! 1 Quote
