I don't use the sticky backed velcro as it tends to come loose over time. Any velcro will work depends where you want to apply it, I only use it on the shins, everywhere else is elastic and snaps.

When shopping for snaps, I find spending a bit more on quality snaps is a good idea. I had cheap ones from the local haberdashery store and they started popping loose. I replaced them with good quality sporting/yachting snaps and I haven’t looked back

Exactly!  You get what you pay for.  Cheap snaps just don't last (trust me on that one) and Velcro loses it's connectivity over time.  I always use the Tandy line 24 snaps.

What are the good snap and Velcro’s brand that you guys use?

Tandy line 24 snaps like these.  I would suggest getting around 50 sets, especially if you are doing the "double-snap" version (highly recommended) as seen above.  I really don't suggest using Velcro at all, but if you have to be sure to go with the industrial strength type.

Do you mean the fabric the snap is set in? I used e-6000 to glue it to the ABS

Are all of your elastic straps the same length, except for the thighs?  What length are they?  I guessing about 6 inches.
Looks like that would be the best way to do it.  In case any strap fails, you have extras on hand.

Pretty much all of the elastic is at different lengths, it's a case of working out the gaps using tape then considering any tightness needed in the elastic to close pieces like AB/Kidney.

Many double snap which helps if one snap fails.
