At this moment I'm out of office and don't have access to the references I have in my PC. 1 Quote
MaskedVengeance[Staff] Posted February 9 Report Posted February 9 I’m so glad you hadn’t drilled those holes on the left thigh! Phew! For higher levels of approval, be sure the ends of the thigh ammo pack are equidistant from the rear ridge of the thigh. You might also consider asking your GML if they differentiate between the ammo pack being placed lower (like the photos Glen posted) or raised like many of us do (because it’s also screen accurate). Ask me how I know. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

And as one of the two "Attaches" for our Garrison, he often refers to me for TK questions. LOL Quote
jsilvius[Staff] Posted February 18 Author Report Posted February 18 So ammo belt is between the 3-5mm. Okay, so before I cut this ammo belt, does this curve look acceptable? Quote

Personally I like a sharp transition from square to round ( less curve) but what you have is acceptable all the way to L3 1 Quote

jsilvius[Staff] Posted February 24 Author Report Posted February 24 With the shins and thighs complete, this weekend we move to arms.I've started by removing the return edges on the wrist. Still need some sanding. Do I need to remove them on the backs as well? And what about the biceps?Sent from my SM-N981U1 using Tapatalk Quote

There are no requirements to remove rear return edges on the forearms or biceps, really depends how they sit on their arms, many of us with smaller frames keep them so there are not big gaps seen when wearing them. Screen suits had little to no return edges 1 Quote
jsilvius[Staff] Posted February 25 Author Report Posted February 25 Forearm progress. Other than losing the tip of my finger, not a horrible day.Sent from my SM-N981U1 using Tapatalk Quote

jsilvius[Staff] Posted February 26 Author Report Posted February 26 The weekend was a bit slower with not being able to use both hands to their full extent. But forearms are together, need to add cover strips, and the start of one bicep. 1 Quote
Sithping[TK] Posted February 28 Report Posted February 28 Jeez James! Hope your finger is better soon. I swear sweat and blood goes into our TK builds. 1 Quote
jsilvius[Staff] Posted March 2 Author Report Posted March 2 Okay, before I go too crazy. Does the cover strip placement look correct, or do they need to be longer?Sent from my SM-N981U1 using Tapatalk Quote
Doggydoc[Staff] Posted March 2 Report Posted March 2 If you look at the reference photos, they look like they are okay. As they go all the way to the top on one photo, but are a bit shorter like yours in the other. Personally, I like the look better with the gap covered. Remember though that the top of the cover strip will be hidden under the shoulder bell. 1 Quote
dblcross[TK] Posted March 2 Report Posted March 2 Your build being from DDD is making me want to take mine to a higher level! It's looking great! 1 Quote

Come join me as I help Advance to 1500! It is a lot easier to do it on this kit after I've built a few others. I feel like I know that I'm doing, but I keep asking questions of the DOs and other EI recipients because I want to make sure it is all good from the get go. A lot easier to ask now before I start gluing... LOL Quote
jsilvius[Staff] Posted March 2 Author Report Posted March 2 Okay, last pictures for the night. Both biceps are together. I've added a cover strip to one side and I started adding cover strips to the forearms as well. So need to shape up the shoulder bells. Then I'll start work on the ab/kidney sections. We have two armor parties next week, so hopefully I'll have a bit of help to finish my helmet. I'm so close. Sent from my SM-N981U1 using Tapatalk 1 Quote
jsilvius[Staff] Posted March 11 Author Report Posted March 11 We'll I think I ruined my helmet. I've built a few ATAs and one MTK, but the AM is just a bit different and doesn't line up as I thought it should. So I added a 2nd rivet to try and pull the tubes in line and when I went to add the ears, they showed. The ears were another story. one side lined up great. the other has a gap on the back so bad I could put my pink finger under it. So we did some trimming, some sanding, some filing and it just kept getting worst. So after drilling out the 2nd rivet and making the ABS Slurry, to try and fill holes, I'm stuck with ear that don't work and the spares that I have are all for ATA helmets so they are a bit short. Well Triple D himself saw my post and offered to help me out. So if you ever question the AM (DDD) armor, don't. Dave has great customer service and wants to help you. I'm so happy that I've had Terrel (RIP) and Dave as my armor providers. Both have been amazing to work with. So while I wait on replacement ears (and a 2nd helmet). I will start working on my kidney to ab shims. Then once that is done, I can start strapping. Fingers crossed I'll have enough time this week to get the kit done before our first big Con of the year in our area. Quote
gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted March 11 Report Posted March 11 Your ears are quite thick on the top and perhaps a "step" will help them come inwards more closing the cheek gap. My go to threads for ears Some references of screen helmets, many had gaps 1 Quote
