Advanced Tactics Awards Public Relations Staff List 2020Follow FISD November 30 2021, It was a shock to hear of the passing of Terrell Reber TK1787 "SuperTrooper" due to complications with Covid. For those that may not know, he was ATA (Affordable TrooperAarmor) and for many years has supplied 501st members around the world with quality TK armour. Not only did he make great armour, but he was a former Detachment leader of FISD. His wife Tracie is still in ICU also suffering complications also from Covid and we send her our thoughts for a speedy recovery. Our condolences go out to his family, friends. "Buckets Off" A Few Words From Our Detachment Founder It is with a heavy heart that I mourn the passing of Terrell Reber, who was my XO for many of the early years of FISD and later became DL in his own right. In that time, he contributed his insight and wisdom in many areas most particular in the areas of armor, molds, and armor making. He was the first person to find a legitimate, conflict free path to selling TE derived armor when he founded ATA. It may be hard to believe, but there was a time those years back when a decent set of FX armor was $1200 and TE type armor was hard to acquire from a reputable person. ATA changed much of that, and ATA set the bar for providing quality armor at an affordable price. Hence ATA: affordable trooper armor. He was very picky about quality and hunted for plastic suppliers who would provide virgin material with the right shade of white. He could have charged more and had a long wait list, however felt that would be against his principles. These days there are many options for people to procure quality TE type armor at an affordable price, and we have a solid list of reputable makers. It can be hard to believe that it wasn’t always this way, or that even having a public list of vetted armor makers was considered taboo. With a glance at a picture, he could tell you the make of the armor or helmet and could spot all the “tells” that was uncanny. He gave selflessly his experience and advice to FISD members time and again. However, most of all I will remember him as someone who was always there to take a phone call when needed. Who gave selflessly to this hobby that he loved. 43 is just too young. Buckets off, as I drain it of my tears. With Unquestioned Loyalty Paul Hoeffer TK-8020 "Daetrin" Detachment Founder Mary J. (Jane) Stampados - TR5272. Stampados joined the 501st Mountain Garrison in March of 2007. A mom and grandmother, Jane did what came naturally to her during her time with the Mountain Garrison, she took care of the crew at conventions, parades, parties, and charity events with a smile and a snack. An avid costumer, Jane was also a Klingon, a Starfleet Officer, a Steampunker, a Parrothead, and a Pirate. Our condolences go out to her family, friends. "Buckets Off" Central Garrison was saddened to learn of the passing of their member Mel Knowles, RC-10033, of the Wampa Hunter Squadron. They are thankful to have shared troops with him and all of their love goes out to his family in their time of loss. Our condolences go out to his family, friends. "Buckets Off" Eternal Legionnaire Gallery: https://www.501st.com/members/memoriam.php Greetings members As the detachment mourns the loss of a former detachment leader, influential member, armor vendor and all round wonderful person, I ask you all to be safe out there in the galaxy. Life is too short, we never know what lies around the corner, so live every day to the fullest, be kind and always try and pay it forward. I only have a few things to discuss as we enter the holiday period, so lets take a look. The Celebration patch design competition was extended to the 12th of December and align with release date of this newsletter. It was adjusted in order for the staff to take a vote on a winner and the result is publish further down in this edition. We are working on the detachment shirt run which will launch in early January pending legion approval. Thank you to TK-46116, "CallMeMrTibbles" (Richard) for stepping up to take on the duties of helming this impending run. Shirt runs for FISD are generally large in scale and not for the faint hearted, but Richard will be supported by a few seasoned aficionados of large scale detachment merch runs, so we believe you are in good hands. It's been another tough year for many of you with the pandemic situation continuing to hit in waves, and changing the predicament of members and staff alike. Engagement has dropped across legion in all aspects, but we have striven to bring you as much content, exciting merch, along with a safe friendly environment to spend some time in as we could. Most of the 2021 plan has been achieved already, with a few items to complete between now and the end of term. Those items and other smaller projects will be promoted in our forum Announcements and or the January newsletter if completed. Special anniversary project I have teased of this for some months now. It has been a monumental task and continues to be with some discussion opened up with the LMBO's. It's new territory for the Legion which has brought with it an air of uncertainty about how it can come to fruition in the day and age of Disney's oversight on what we can and can not produce. It is not an easy task with a huge amount of planning required to get it right and make it something we all want it to be. Thank you to all the members who submitted photos based on a request with little to no information on what they were submitting them for. Many jumped through hoops to supply raw and high resolution photos which are required for this type of endeavor. Not all images submitted could be considered due to various implications that wouldn't pass Disney scrutiny if we have to run this past them in it's entirety, but I feel if it is something everyone wants, then due to numbers, we will have no choice. We are pushing to do something not openly done in our detachment or dare I say legion history that will be breaking new ground for the LMBO team, so much is pivotal on how we make this happen, that it needs to be done carefully. Because it seems we are trail blazing in this territory, I have been dubious to announce what it is, but this is not fair on any of you or the fact there is probably no ideal time, so hear we go. We have been working towards creating the FISD 15th anniversary Coffee table book. A history in images of what we do best out there in the community. More information will come to light in the future, but for now, we are working on several aspects of this project. Most of the photos are now compiled, other details like cover design, layout and other inclusions are under heavy discussion and work. Due to the shear scale of this, it won't happen over night so your continued patience is appreciated. It will also have to be approved through the LMBO office and most probably through DLFL if it becomes a merch item as numbers could be very high. Rest assured work will continue heartily on bringing this monumental project to life. Thanks again everyone for your tremendous support throughout 2021, have a safe and happy holiday season hopefully with loved ones, and I shall see you all next year.
