Lazerjock[TK] Posted October 5, 2021 Report Posted October 5, 2021 (edited) I've been reading and learning about TK builds and how the ISD helps along the way. The amount of info available here is amazing. Thank you for what you do here. This is my second 501st costume build. My First is ROTJ Boba Fett Hero that I built after being laid off in 2020 due to COVID. I've been trooping as Boba with the 501st and loving every minute of it for almost a year. The 501st will not allow more than 1 of the same character to troop at the same time. (Ex: not allowed to have 2 Vaders or Bobas or you get the idea.) You can have as many TK's as you like though. So, I decided to build a TK allowing me to go to more troops. I've got a good start on my build. All of the parts are in hand except the E-11 which is being built by Quest Designs and the belt since I won't know which size to buy until the armor is assembled. I commissioned my helmet build from Trooper Master and he did an amazing job. I am adding the fans, sound system, upgraded lenses & padding. I also painted the inside black with Plastidip. I've trimmed all of the armor and am ready to start gluing it together with E6000. A good friend of mine built 2 TK's to Centurion Level, one is a sand trooper. He is guiding me through my build. My goal is to get Centurion approval. After building a Boba Fett this should be fairly straight forward. (I hope) Edited October 5, 2021 by Lazerjock 2 Quote

wook1138[TK] Posted October 5, 2021 Report Posted October 5, 2021 Boba looks great. You’ll have no issues with the TK. The resources here are incredible and the response to questions is typically quick and meaningful. 1 Quote
MightyAtom[TK] Posted October 5, 2021 Report Posted October 5, 2021 Hey Chris,If you build your TK as well as your Boba Fett, it will look amazing!I found a wealth of advice from everyone on FISD and my home garrison forum. Hesikaya[TK] Posted October 5, 2021 Report Posted October 5, 2021 That's a great Boba. And you're hitting it all out of the park. There's never enough white amor in the field. Welcome aboard! 1 Quote

Lazerjock[TK] Posted November 6, 2021 Author Report Posted November 6, 2021 (edited) Small update. Between trooping as Boba and Halloween, I haven't been able to work on my TK much. Halloween is a big deal at my house. I go nuts decorating the yard every year even though I don't have any kids. But...........yesterday my Quest Design Canada E-11 blaster showed up. This thing is really nice. I am so glad I went with them. This got me going and I started modding it right away. I made a trip to the local surplus store here in Orlando called Skycraft. If you are ever here on vacation and you are a maker/builder you need to go to Skycraft. You won't regret it. I went with the intention of getting hardware to upgrade the blaster and a large spring to go inside. I only picked up 1 screw, and they didn't have the right size spring so I grabbed some wire and bent my own. I also found a camera zoom assembly for $4.00 and an eye loupe for $2.00 that I gutted for the optics. I had to remove resin from the scope for the new optic to fit. Then I printed a reticle I found online and glued the optics in place. I still need to do a little weathering and add a few more details, but it is coming along nicely. More to come later. Lazerjock[TK] Posted November 20, 2021 Author Report Posted November 20, 2021 I know it's been a while since my last post so I thought I would catch you up on my build. A few weeks ago I picked up a Huskey tote from Home Depot. I read that it will hold a TK minus the helmet. I need this one since it will fit in my Vette. I realized I never post any pictures of the amazing work Trooper Master did putting together and painting my helmet. Quote
Lazerjock[TK] Posted November 20, 2021 Author Report Posted November 20, 2021 Continued. I did disassemble the helmet and paint the interior with Plastidip and mounted my lens from Trooper Bay using Chicago screws. This way I can replace it easily if needed. I bought a motor cycle helmet bag on eBay for $20 and cut my own TK numbers. Quote
Lazerjock[TK] Posted November 20, 2021 Author Report Posted November 20, 2021 Today I did some work on the armor. I cut all of the cover strips and wanted to make sure all of the 45 degree corner cuts were the same. Doing this by hand is very difficult, so I make a simple fixture to hold the pieces at exactly 45 degrees while I touched it to my belt sander. I was able to do all of them in less than 5 minutes. 2 Quote
Lazerjock[TK] Posted November 20, 2021 Author Report Posted November 20, 2021 I fitted the fore arms and biceps then glued the cover strips on. Originally I though 60 magnets would be more than enough. I was right if this is all of the gluing I plan to do in one sitting. Lol 2 Quote
Lazerjock[TK] Posted November 21, 2021 Author Report Posted November 21, 2021 Today I removed all of the excess E6000 and did final trimming/sanding on the return edges. I'm very happy with the results. Hoping to get the thighs and shins done over the Thanksgiving break. Quote
Lazerjock[TK] Posted November 21, 2021 Author Report Posted November 21, 2021 I am not sure what is going on, but I am only allowed to upload 10Kb pictures now. My best guess is I am uploading too many pictures in too short of time. I did some weathering on my E-11 but you will need to wait to see the results. Lol Quote

Lol There is a forum limit to the amount of images a person can post, understandably with the thousands of members here we'd need our own server just for images. Most of us use a free online image host Imgur and copy the links to our threads, here is a great tutorial 2 Quote
Lazerjock[TK] Posted November 24, 2021 Author Report Posted November 24, 2021 (edited) My E-11 after weathering. The CRL says "minor weathering". This is a very subjective thing. Please let me what you think. https://imgur.com/7q0FkW2 https://imgur.com/ppOVqqX Edited November 24, 2021 by Lazerjock Quote
justjoseph63[Staff] Posted November 24, 2021 Report Posted November 24, 2021 Looks fantastic, Chris! You kept the weathering off of the grip and T-tracks and didn't go overboard (sometimes less is more). Nice job, sir! Quote

Lazerjock[TK] Posted December 31, 2021 Author Report Posted December 31, 2021 (edited) I have been able to put in a lot of time during the Christmas break (The company I work for closes between Christmas & New Year). I finished assembly of the shins & thighs. I also completed most of the strapping and built my sound clip play back unit. Similar to the Micom but with 10 triggers, one on each finger. I designed this unit for my Boba and duplicated it for the TK. Today I was able to put on some of the lower armor and do some fitting. I've also been reading other EI & Centurion submissions and learning what to look for/focus on. Please let me know if you see anything wrong. I would love to fix problems now if possible.
