sillyface Posted August 15, 2021 Report Posted August 15, 2021 (edited) Hi, I already started on my build a few months ago, but someone reached out and suggested I make a WIP thread here. Makes sense... As White Armour has been my go-to for trying to work out how to put this all together. My WIP is slightly different as I'm also documenting in detail a video log on my channel. (CLICK HERE TO CHECK OUT GEEKY GOODNESS) Wondering why the following posts are the same date?! It's just to catch everyone up what I've done so far So we start with what and were I purchased everything so far. I've been soooo LUCKY that someone abandoned his attempt to make his armour, and sold all his 'soft' items for half the price he bought it for. Being in the UK as me, this was AMAZABALLS, as I didn't have to also pay for the HUGE import taxes and delivery charges from the US, Germany, Canada and Oz. First I downloaded The5thHorseman 3D file I found on this site. But I also added my bespoke light & sound effects using my girlfriends voice. Yep it's not cannon (pun intended), but I can turn it off at an official event. Here's the full video and some pics... (CLICK HERE TO SEE THE VIDEO) And here's the 'beauty' video of the final result. sillyface Posted August 15, 2021 Author Report Posted August 15, 2021 Now that the blaster gave me a taste of this elegant design, I had to carry on with this journey. After waiting 2 years for armour that was never delivered from another vendor - still waiting for a refund. I used Imperial Surplus. (CLICK HERE TO SEE THE VIDEO OF CARDBOARD DREAMS) 1 Quote
sillyface Posted August 15, 2021 Author Report Posted August 15, 2021 As mentioned at the start, I was lucky to purchase almost all the supplementary - soft stuff, from an absolute gentlemen that abandoned his build due to waiting years for armour that didn't come. (CLICK HERE TO SEE THE VIDEO OF EMOTIONAL GOODNESS) The under armour soft stuff is from Geeky Pinks Gloves are Imperial Boots and also the boots (not pictured) Quote
sillyface Posted August 15, 2021 Author Report Posted August 15, 2021 Now that I've caught you up, here's my first video building/preparing the armour. I will dedicate a video to each piece.(CLICK HERE TO SEE THE VIDEO OF A REALLY HAPPY MAN WORK ON HIS CHEST) Hole cut out and resin vent installed. Pill indents sanded down to reveal holes. Prepping for final white primer paint Will paint the final Gloss White when all parts are ready. And I will do it in one session. Quote

sillyface Posted August 23, 2021 Author Report Posted August 23, 2021 Episode 4 of my Storm Trooper armour build now available to stream. One of the larger parts that took up a lot of space. One day I’ll look back at this from my huge fully equipped Tony Stark Iron Man style workshop and be amazed how I did it... Where there’s a will, there’s a way. sillyface Posted August 30, 2021 Author Report Posted August 30, 2021 Perhaps the easiest part of the build. It was a great part to experiment how I was going to paint the whole armour... CLICK HERE FOR THE FULL VIDEO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CzEW1lIb8Fg 1 Quote
Daetrin[Admin] Posted August 30, 2021 Report Posted August 30, 2021 can I say just how gorgeous that blaster is? 1 Quote
sillyface Posted September 20, 2021 Author Report Posted September 20, 2021 My cheap solution paint spraying larger props & models such as my First Order Storm Trooper armour. Ideal for those with no indoor space or facilities to extract sticky dangerous fumes while protecting the wet paint from flies using it as a landing pad. sillyface Posted September 29, 2021 Author Report Posted September 29, 2021 (edited) *EDIT: I've since discovered the FA Thermal Detonator has a visable seam between the canister and backplate. I will redo this at some point, but for now this will still look passable. Awkward to join without lots of gaps due to it being a multiple part vac-form. But I got there in the end with endless filler, paint and repeat. VIDEO LINK HERE: https://youtu.be/14oshMvuUNw Edited September 30, 2021 by sillyface 3 Quote
sillyface Posted October 6, 2021 Author Report Posted October 6, 2021 To give my Stormtrooper armour a narrative as well as protect it when knocked about at home while in storage. I’ve sewn themed bags specifically to the size and shape of each armour piece. Made as if how the trooper in the Star Wars world would be presented their armour. gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted October 6, 2021 Report Posted October 6, 2021 Very nice, love the labels, I only hand wrote mine, I may need an upgrade In case you haven't tried/tested just be careful using black material, sometimes it can bleed into the paint,, I found this with my first set of armor protectors, luckily it polished out with some auto compound polish, could have been humidity or slightly sweaty armor. 2 Quote

sillyface Posted October 31, 2021 Author Report Posted October 31, 2021 Hi all, other than locating the front two boxes either side of the snap that's centre of the crotch piece. I'm having trouble finding a definitive answer to the spacing between belt boxes from each other. Any qualified feedback is welcomed. Quote
gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted October 31, 2021 Report Posted October 31, 2021 No definitive measurement most just go off screen and display references 1 Quote
sillyface Posted November 7, 2021 Author Report Posted November 7, 2021 Perhaps the most difficult section of the armour to build. Might remake it as some point in the future. But I think it came out ok. CLICK HERE FOR THE VIDEO: https://youtu.be/dnkgUKac47Y Quote
