funkster[TK] Posted August 27, 2021 Author Report Posted August 27, 2021 Wonder if someone can help. I was scrolling a couple of days back and found a build where there was a diagram of the forearm construction The member had also added the screw to the forearm rail. I’ve got one with a flange and wondered if theirs was the same but can’t find the thread Quote

funkster[TK] Posted August 27, 2021 Author Report Posted August 27, 2021 Thanks dudeIt wasn’t, but after a long scrolling session I found it in Krisko’s build 1 Quote
TKSpartan[Staff] Posted August 27, 2021 Report Posted August 27, 2021 Great you found it. first time a see that close. Quote
Sly11[Admin] Posted August 28, 2021 Report Posted August 28, 2021 Here is a screen used asset, hope this is helpful for your holster referencing. You will notice Torx security bolts are used (have that center pin) The bearing is also held in place with a Torx security bolt Dome head and the others are counter sunk. Screen cap wardrobe malfunction forearm. Quote
Sly11[Admin] Posted August 28, 2021 Report Posted August 28, 2021 Also looks like you have the correct bolt for the forearm, saw the holster post so followed up on that for some clarity as well. 1 Quote
funkster[TK] Posted August 30, 2021 Author Report Posted August 30, 2021 Finished the TD today with help from a buddy with a vinyl cutter. Actually ended up using vinyl on the end cap to get a clean edge. Can’t see the join unless you get about an inch awayBack detail Bolt done Nipples and shoulder tabs painting 2 Quote

Sly11[Admin] Posted August 31, 2021 Report Posted August 31, 2021 Is this not your bolt? I just noticed you used the one with the flange perhaps I confused you and if so, my apologies as you had this then another image posted. This as far as we are aware is the correct type to use. Quote
funkster[TK] Posted September 1, 2021 Author Report Posted September 1, 2021 Yeah I had to use the one with the flange to cover up a bit of damageYou can see that the button details are bigger on my rail and painted 3d printed plastic doesn’t respond to a Dremel as well as resin does. Quote

funkster[TK] Posted September 5, 2021 Author Report Posted September 5, 2021 Did a bit of work on the lid yesterday. It’s still not fitting together without issue, so started removing some material to try and help. Also, the mesh did fair too well in the casting processSo out it comes, and I’ll be replacing it with some metal mesh Quote
Sly11[Admin] Posted September 5, 2021 Report Posted September 5, 2021 The bubbles are an issue where a vacuum pot hasn't been used to draw them out of the resin before pouring into the mold. Also because the mold may be too large to also add to the vacuum pot after its filled. As to it not fitting, it looks like the molds may be slightly distorted so the part just doesn't align correctly at both sides. Also the original buck was probably 3D printed and may have warped during that process hence why the alignment is out as would be the mold made from it. Have you spoken to Walt about it yet? Quote
funkster[TK] Posted September 8, 2021 Author Report Posted September 8, 2021 Yep.Spoken to him a few times with little advice other than “sand more”It’s frustrating as I’ve heated the face plate to better mold it to the inside, but it then just goes back to its original shape. It’s going to need a LOT of adhesive to keep it in place. He said he was going to put together a video on how to assemble the helmet. Still waiting for the clips and vinyl which he said had come in and would be in the post. That was a month ago. Unfortunately, he’s now been flooded out, which is not good news for anyone. Quote
