This is going to be a slow build, so strap in and hang on.

First is the BBB day (minus the BBB). its a lot of parts

Planning on L3, so rubber gaskets are in hand

Lots of sourced bits/bobs, this one is for the back of the armor (goes underneath the thermal det),

I think you are the first WTF FOTK build so it will definitely be interesting to see how everything goes together ;)

You finally got it Lou!!! I'm pretty darn excited about this as it is indeed our first WTF FO TK build.

I spoke with Walt about this kit and several of the aspects he has included, including the interesting  multi piece shoulder back and front under section of the chest plate, and the 3 piece chest plate.

May I ask that you post up a good image of the resin parts he also includes as this will be excellent for all our members to see what comes with the kit.

I'll probably be talking with you again soon about some of the other pieces :)

Good luck with this build sir, I look very much forward to seeing your progress.

I’d be interested in how you get on with the lid if you’re building it

Mine’s been “tricky” to get to fit together

Did you get any helmet clips?

“Glad” it’s not just me then

Little irritating as I’m full steam on my build at the minute

Working on the TD, going to make it so that the cylinder can slide out

Back plate has a curve, in this pick it is upside down (curve is at top)

Hard to find the cut lines, and of course I missed it... Going to paint the armor so looks like it is putty time.

With the back plate. While I can have a seam, this is too large so I will make it seamless.

Look at that curve, anyone know why it changed from flat?

Since I had fixes, decided to switch to making it functional and more accurate. So pull everything apart

BCFGJPD.jpg

Found a poly tube at mcmaster carr, so need to remove the indents and graft the body onto the tube.

I2jtux8.jpg

Some cutting and sanding later. Still need to cut out the tube and glue the body, then fill and work on the actual TD canister.

With the TD

If you wanted to reduce the gap and but still have it separate you can do what I did for my ab boxes.

Put some mold release / wax on the back plate.
Get some body filler / bondo / p38 on the TD
Push it in in place so the filler squishes out abs fills the gap
Wait for it to go off
Pull of the TD as the wax should have stopped the filler attaching
Sand and tidy up the TD

Boo.

Sanded both the backplate and TD back to fit a little better. I can live with this gap if it is not too large (I have not seen the gap in TLJ)

cpUQa4i.jpg

Attached the TD to the backplate with screws and nylon nuts. Added a few magnets to the middle of the TD and secured with epoxy putty and fiberglass cloth (so hopefully the magnets don't come loose).

TLJ and TROS do inf fact have a gap between the housing and back plate. The endcap is a full tube which goes into the housing and the top slot and back panel are cut out showing the tube insided.

Nice work on the TD details.

For insides you will find they overlapped (also had a slight curve), many glue in position but they can be left loose as was seen on screen

Rough trimming on the body.

This is not going to fit as-is, could not get it closed around my mid section. Not sure if you add shims to the side after the box or if you split in the back.  Looking at other threads I don't see anyone needing to shim? Can someone compare their kit to the measurements I posted in the pictures above, any help appreciated. Just concerned if I modify now that I could be throwing off the back and chest plate.

Normally split in the back as the TD plate covers the back so you could add some more there

Lots of different ways to hold it together, some in this gallery section

You can't go past @ukswrath's build, start of the torso area here

Strapping here

Working on the torso, cut the kidney in the middle and gained a few inches. Still need to get a few more, thinking of adding 2 inches on each side after the last body box. Not sure on how this will affect the chest and back, will try to mock this up and use a lot of tape.

You can see the zipper I will add and the TD plate. Currently the plate barely covers the gap (could always add more plastic in this area.
