darthRivera[501st] Posted August 10, 2021 Report Posted August 10, 2021 Hello all! Kreel, appears in various issues of comics. And unfortunately the drawings are not the same. In issues # 59 & # 60 he shows us a more "realistic" armor. That's why I decided to modify an Anovos armor to emulate the armor of this character. Refererences: After several modifications to the armor. This is my version 1. After those first photos, I made some adjustments, to the pauldron and the lightsaber. Old ____ New New / Reference / Old At some point I have to take photos with these improvements, but this is the work I have done. 1 Quote
gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted August 10, 2021 Report Posted August 10, 2021 Very nice work, looks amazing, you've done a great job there, been waiting for someone to actually do one of these versions, many have spoken about it over the years. Hope you don't mind some suggestions, just with a quick look there are a few things you could address, (if you wanted too), one thing that appears different to realistic versions is the thigh ammo strip, doesn't appear to have the lower corner curves. Handplates don't look to have the extra angle/bend but that's artists impressions, in fact is very similar to the Hero version hand plates. The left arm pouch appears to be a little narrower in the reference, with angled sides on the flap. Looks like they added some lines in the middle of the belt on the left side, not seen on the right though so again and artists impression. Incidentally the drop box looks rotated around, like you can see the inner back box, again artists impressions. The white rectangles on the sides of the ab could be a little narrower too. Try to remove the wrinkles from the pauldron One other thing which is just a little off is the chests ab lines, they do dogleg back, I think it's the curve of the line putting it off. This is a hard one as it's very hard with some things to truly emulate a cartoon image into realistic armor. Here's a bit of a comparison. Also are the two black triangles the same size, they look slightly different?. With the pauldron most of the references show a curve to the top, again this is an artists impression and hard to emulate in a realistic version, the LMO's may or may not comment. One other thing which is pretty standard across most Stormtrooper version is the fall of the tube stripes, from the top they fall forward, yours appear to be leaning backwards at the front, but that's generally a higher level issue. I have to ask too how you managed to soften the mid chest curve/angles, it's very subtle, looks like you have used a covering, foam perhaps?. Do you have any other reference material to go off? Once again great work on this, I hope you will be talking to our DL Andrew @Sly11 in regards to a CRL for this costume. Quote

This is how I modified the chest. Yes, my armor was black. =) Abdomen. Due to the lack of consistency in many parts, well I assumed some parts were like a regular TK. For example the thigh ammo strip. Another example is the tube strips, in no image you can see that they are blue, they are all black, but I think that due to factors of ease of drawing for the artist, then I assume that they are blue. gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted August 10, 2021 Report Posted August 10, 2021 Lots a lot of work, well done. With a lot of the game version they are slightly different, no curve, also mounted higher, it's all the artists faults Quote

Likewise, it would eventually be an easy thing to fix. Quote
darthRivera[501st] Posted August 10, 2021 Author Report Posted August 10, 2021 Another detail is that in many references, the helmet gives me the impression that it is a Hero version, but in other images, it is not. It's really complicated, but I liked working on this character. An interesting detail. For a regular Tk, the holster affixed with only two fasteners at the bottom. The references indicate that it should be fastened with 4 fasteners. My belt Quote
gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted August 10, 2021 Report Posted August 10, 2021 Hero version and again a lot of the games use the 4 attachment points although not slotted screws Helmet does appear slightly different in a lot of the images, but to me would be I would say Stunt would match more closely Quote
Sly11[Admin] Posted August 10, 2021 Report Posted August 10, 2021 This is an awesome costume mod Michael. If you do consider working on a CRL let me know as we will need to discuss references with the LMO team to see if they would entertain it. Quote

I had posted the whole WIP on the SpecOps detachment forum, SCAR squad is a special operations unit, I thought it was the right detachment. They told me that they wanted to work on the CRL too, they started to write something, but it's been months since we haven't talked any more about it. I don't know if there should be any communication between detachments. Quote

You can always contact one of their team to confirm, they are pretty slow over at Spec Ops, took a year and a half to finalize the Sithtrooper CRL. Normally if there is any confusion between which detachment a CRL is under the Detachment Leaders will discuss with the LMO's. I'm surprised they already started work on a CRL. Quote

Sly11[Admin] Posted August 11, 2021 Report Posted August 11, 2021 If the character is named as a special operations unit member then I would lose the fight to gain this costume as a standard TK unfortunately. I would definitely reach out to them and ask if any progress will happen in the short term. Alternatively you can certainly try your hand at writing the CRL and presenting it to them. This may get a reaction and have them jump back into it and possibly use your work. 1 Quote
darthRivera[501st] Posted August 12, 2021 Author Report Posted August 12, 2021 I wrote something. Of course it is very basic and I have no experience writing CRL, English is not my native language, so it might be disastrous. , but I did it with the intention of helping in some way. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1pRqNhCQ5ZYg099BH0WsInf1UCeIhspw-?usp=sharing I would be happy if at some point it is possible to have a CRL of this costume, not to stay with one more cosplay. Of course any modification improvements that the armor requires, I do. 1 Quote
Sly11[Admin] Posted September 6, 2021 Report Posted September 6, 2021 FYI This costume is indeed heading for Spec Ops Detachment and will finally have an official home and CRL. Great news for you at long last as I just had a conversation with their DL and everyone is happy. Quote
Daetrin[Admin] Posted September 6, 2021 Report Posted September 6, 2021 Great move - SpecOps is the perfect home for non-standard troopers. Quote
