Removing dirt marks from canvas belt

Hi all,
My armour is a relatively new RS commission build. The dye(?) from the holster is rubbing off on parts of the armour including the canvas part of the ammo belt. I don’t mind my armour looking a little battle-worn but it does stick our like a sore thumb and I want to try and clean it up. I was going to give Vanish a go but thought I’d check if anyone had other methods that may be better.

I tried Vanish on a belt and soaked it overnight, then left outside to dry and most of the marks were removed BUT the rivets went a little rusty and left rust marks. I used a little white marker that took most of that away bit needed up making another belt.

It dries a bit rubbery, and is what I used to dye my black boots white. It's perfect on my boots, but obviously belts and boots are not the same.

Perhaps if I try the Vanish whilst trying to protect the area around the rivets?

Glen's idea has been tried (unlike mine) so I'd agree.

Maybe put somewhere like an airing cupboard or somewhere warm (but not too warm) to really dry out all the nooks and crannies, in case it's trapped moisture that caused the rust.

Just be careful of any direct heat that could warp your plastics

I have always used the Tide Stick or Bleach pen. It works for me.

This is why I used Chicago screws instead of pop rivets. Down the road I can remove the plastic and give the belt a wash.

Maybe it’s the TD in me, but I’d wear those little marks with pride.
