gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted October 6, 2020 Report Posted October 6, 2020 The Mortar Stormtrooper was a specialized variant of stormtrooper that specialized in mortar weaponry. The stormtrooper was equipped with stormtrooper armor, albeit with yellow markings, a yellow pauldron, and a military backpack. The style and position of the yellow markings on the Mortar Stormtrooper were identical to the red markings of the incinerator troopers deployed by the Imperial remnant led by Moff Gideon. 7 Quote

TrooperSam[TK] Posted October 12, 2020 Report Posted October 12, 2020 (edited) That is so cool! Can't wait to see the back pack and already thinking about painting my armor EDIT Unfortunately, repainting my ANH stunt is not an option: like many other stormtroopers of the series it is based on the rogue one type, according to the picture :-( Edited October 20, 2020 by TK51085 Quote
TK3373[TK] Posted December 9, 2020 Report Posted December 9, 2020 Interesting to see actual thermal dets used as shells. Is there enough references for this to become a thing or do we have to wait until a figure comes out? Quote

Generally you need full front, back and both sides images which there isn't from that episode that is why figures are important at times. At the end of the day someone has to build a version of the costume before a CRL will go live. Some more info here https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:CRLGuide 1 Quote
Sly11[Admin] Posted December 9, 2020 Report Posted December 9, 2020 3D files for the mortar are already available from Empire 3D so no doubt we will be seeing some as props at the very least. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted May 21, 2021 Author Report Posted May 21, 2021 Descriptions starwars.com ARTILLERY STORMTROOPER Specialized soldiers in the Imperial forces, artillery stormtroopers carry specialized indirect fire weapons like mortars onto the battlefield. From cover, they can lob explosives of difference types at a high angle to fall at precisely calculated coordinates. Wookieepedia The artillery stormtrooper also known as the Mortar Stormtrooper, was a variant of stormtrooper that specialized in indirect fire weapons such as mortars while in the battlefield. They launched explosives of different types at a high angle to fall at precisely calculated coordinates from cover. The stormtrooper was equipped with standard stormtrooper armor, albeit with yellow markings, a yellow pauldron, and a military backpack. The style and position of the yellow markings on the stormtrooper were identical to the red markings of the incinerator troopers deployed by the Imperial remnant led by Moff Gideon. One Mortar Stormtrooper participated in a skirmish on Tython. Quote
Sly11[Admin] Posted May 22, 2021 Report Posted May 22, 2021 And because of the use of the word "Specialized" guess who will be claiming that CRL. if they haven't already. 1 Quote
Sly11[Admin] Posted May 22, 2021 Report Posted May 22, 2021 I have discussed this costume with the Spec Ops detachment leader, and can confirm they are not pursuing this costume. Their current focus is on another character seen in Mandalorian and several specialized characters from recent comics. Looks like it is up to us to create this trooper and build a CRL to suit, but I can see distinct colour differences in the screen grab and the toy version so lets get hold of the production paint codes for accuracy rather than guess work on the screen colour which will be wrong. This may well spur on further investigation for any interested in this character. Can I suggest if anyone wants to become the CRL model, that you make a very detailed build thread containing your research, and as you are nearing completion we nut out the the CRL specifics to submit to the LMO team. 2 Quote

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Hey all. Currently my entire ICAT costume (picture in signature block) is an Empire3D remix and I've printed a few of their items over the last couple months. The stuff is legit. We've actually had a conversation regarding the "Mortartrooper" over on one of the FB pages, but it was short lived. Regardless, I wanted to throw up the Artillery Stormtrooper backpack that one of the members came up with. Unfortunately, I'm going to be without my printers for a few months, but definitely want to get your thoughts on this piece. I can reach out to the designer for any insight he may have. Someone has to do the research, then build the costume before a CRL goes live, they also have to help with the creation of the text which goes with the CRL before this character would be approved, always a bit of work for a new to the legion costume. gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted November 8, 2021 Author Report Posted November 8, 2021 30 minutes ago, OperatorAF said: Is the research above not sufficient? No a costume needs to be built before a CRL is finalized, from the link I posted above "CRLs exist both in the wiki and in the Member Database, but are only entered into the latter after a member has completed a costume that is eligible for 501st inclusion". Also screen references are normally preferred (if available) over figures which are a secondary reference source. NOTE anyone can help writing the text for a CRL, all you need to is reach out to our detachment leader @Sly11 Quote
Sly11[Admin] Posted November 8, 2021 Report Posted November 8, 2021 I am indeed here to help Justin. Considering New generation armour is available for this character, a CRL is going to be reasonably easy to create, but without a Model and all the images of the various parts and paint scheme, a CRL would be incomplete and not see the light of day. Only member built costume images are used for a CRL, not screen caps or action figure photos. This is always the case with new to legion costumes, it takes a trail blazer to do their research and start a build thread, then work with myself and the staff as well as the LMO (Legion Membership Officers) to make it all a reality. The detachment is here to support your research, build and the writing of the CRL. Use our expertise to assist you. Luckily we already have a CRL for the Rogue One TK which uses the new gen armour, so you have a huge head start by utalising that platform for the build of the costume. The paint scheme looks to be well laid out on screen and on the Hot toys action figure, so you have references to work with for the accuracy. I believe there is even 3D files available for the back pack, and definitely for the launcher, so your job is far from difficult when compared to many other costumes that require everything designed and built from scratch. To note, I'm pretty sure there are others who may already be working on this costume, but the first to complete will end up becoming the CRL model. I am at your service. Quote
Damore[TK] Posted June 29, 2022 Report Posted June 29, 2022 Has anymore research been done on this costume? I wanted to make sure I wasn’t overlooking another thread. Quote
