Revvek’s FOTK build [KB 2020]

Ok I have been collecting bits for several years, this part from here, that part from there. (Details later) and yesterday, my biggest box finally arrived, my KB A- FOTK kit. The build can finally begin! (I’m sure there will be things I’m missing)

 

Next, find time to sort and label things and continue researching others KB builds to get a better feel for how these kits go together. 
 

 

 

Parts:

Armor - KB Props (May the 4th A-)

Helmet - Anovos Standard (FA and TLJ)

      {also got a KB FA helmet, but I may sell it}

Gaskets - Geeky Pink’s (Then perhaps rubber ones)

Neckseal - Geeky Pinks or Anovos (have both)

Belt - Belts of the First Order

Belt Pouches - Trooperbay

Gloves - Imperial Boots

Boots - Imperial Boots

Metal Holster - R2Dan (order request posted, no response at the moment) 

 

F-11D - Imperial Factory printed 5th Horseman and Anovos

F-11D guts - BlastFX (in the T5H at some point)

SE-44C - Imperial Factory printed 5th Horseman

 

Voice Amp - TRamp

looking forward to learning and sharing what I come up with. Perhaps even coming up with my own solutions to teach others along the way. 
 

I have been building an R2-D2 with my brother for over 4 years now I think. It’s been for sure a challenge and great learning experience!

And btw, if you can’t tell from my profile pic.. I’m a huge R2 fan! That’s a pretty impressive project to undertake. I can’t imagine the amount of work and patience something like that would take. And money of course!! Lol

yes R2 is a big project, especially because ours will be one of only a few that can transition between standing and driving stances. Otherwise known as the 2-3-2 transition. 
most people’ builds are stuck in 3, or static in 2

Im planning at the moment to be building the Force Awakens version of things first, but I have both standard line Anovos TFA and TLJ buckets. So perhaps I will find a way to make things work either way.
When my Anovos TLJ kit finally arrives down the road post lawsuit crap, I hope, then I can have either and choose the one to keep.

And so the trimming begins...

Grabbed a medium small size part to get used to working with the material. 

Finding the proper edge will take some research for each part. This edge isn’t entirely clear, but I think I got the top close, just need to refine the sides.

I’m not sure how they work yet. Haven’t looked into how to trim and assemble those yet.

I read that one!
His is Anovos, mine is KB, there are differences, but mine does have 3 parts for the forearms. I believe this is a recent new feature for KB?

 

I'm reading this one. My kit has 3 parts now.

Sorry for the SILENCE.  it's been a rough few weeks.

My cat Dusty got sick, they found one of his kidneys is enlarged after several visits to the vet.  He is now on low grade kind of chemo, seems to maybe be helping.

 

He and his sister are both over 15 years old, and that's when the old cat things start adding up...

I hope to find the time and energy to start working on some of this project again soon!

Finally an update, the long weekend gave me time to get started learning how to trim and refine parts. 

Here is the first completed part.

 

Ready for paint. 

I am 90% sure I will paint everything at the moment, since so many parts will require it.

Next, I took on the hand plates, and was able to pull clean shapes out of the blobs of white plastic. 
(The one in back is how it came from KB, the front is starting to take shape) (pencil more marks added to help define areas to tune in more)

 

Now, how to do the pill opening...  I started with sanding the back side down (not pictured), and that made the center thin and easy to cut through. 


And then I used a small drill and rat tail file to finish the shape.

now to make the second one match.
