tcf Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 Hello everyone, I am thinking about getting an ap helmet and was wondering if it comes with the mic tips, and if so, if they (1) are of decent quality and (2) are able to accept mics inside them. Thanks for any help, Truan Quote
MandalorianWarrior87 Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 They do come with mic tips but they're not accurate. Stompers are great though Quote
TK-4510[501st] Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 Yeah the AP mic tips suck... Take out of box and throw in trash should be included with instructions Quote
missingpieces[501st] Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 They definitely aren't authentic props. ZING!!! they are sink faucet aerators. Quote
tcf Posted October 7, 2008 Author Report Posted October 7, 2008 What would you recommend? Stomper? I saw some on ebay that don't look too bad...white on the inside, wide mesh... Any suggestions? Quote
cr4nky Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 Go for Stomper's. I have them, and they look awesome! Quote
TK-4510[501st] Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 I prefer Keiths as they are cast from screen used Hovi Mic Tips. and are very accurate. He is on this board as "Keith" Quote
tk0000[501st] Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 I think EVO3 will be doing a run of accurate mics tips in the near future with the correct screens and nipple. Stompers are nice and you can get speakers with them. Quote
missingpieces[501st] Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 I think EVO3 will be doing a run of accurate mics tips... he is already making them, or atleast offered me the choice last time i called him Quote
MandalorianWarrior87 Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 I got a set of Stompers for mine, they're amazing. Quote
TKyoda[501st] Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 Anyone got comparison pics of the AP and Stompers or more accurate ones? thanks Quote
dougefresh Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 Anyone got comparison pics of the AP and Stompers or more accurate ones? thanks You can see 'em both on BigTurc's AP helmet build in the AP section of the forum. (I spend entirely too much time here.. I remembered that WAY too readily. Ugh. ) You can see the two on the AP page of starwarshelmets.com as well. Quote
Smitty Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 Go with Stompers for the win! Keith's are very nice too, if not the best. I have a set of Keith's on my TE2 and they are str8 pimpin! Ive used Stompers tips on a couple of helmets too. Both are splended hovis! Quote

MandalorianWarrior87 Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 I forgot how bad the AP ones look Quote
TK-1287 Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 I'd have to say they are better than the FX ones. I'm going to donate them to whoever in my garrison wants them. Quote
TKyoda[501st] Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 Are the AP's really that bad?...they look pretty good on mine...but maybe if I seen the others you have mentioned I guess they might look better. well off to another upgrade.. Quote
TK-1287 Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 They really don't look that bad, but I figure if you're taking the measures to get an accurate helmet and/or suit, you might as well spend an extra $20 and go the distance Quote
MandalorianWarrior87 Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 New mic tips are worth it. I got Stompers two-tone's on mine and they're super nice. Quote
sskunky Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 Yeah, what they all said. I have a pair of Stompers with speakers and they're GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRREAT! I also have a few SDS Hovis that are injection molded two parters and they seem very good, sharp details but not having an original to compare with I wouldn't know who's are the most accurate. But for ease I would say Stompers or Keiths as you can get them right here. Quote
