Saboshi Posted January 27, 2020 Report Posted January 27, 2020 Hello there troopers! I'm Luca, an italian young guy who's always been fascinated by stoormtroopers since the first view of the movies! I'm looking forward to become a 501st member and i'm saving right now for actually buying a costume. I've read the topic about where to buy the costumes, but i'd like to ask one more thing if anyone is willing to help me Having a low budget (being a student atm) , what's the cheapest costume i can get and from who (maybe with some installments payment too...i would have more time to get the $)? I'm completely noob to this but i'm so hyped to join your ranks one day! Thanks in advance! Quote
T-Jay[TK] Posted January 27, 2020 Report Posted January 27, 2020 Hello Luca and welcome to the FISD. The cheapest costume might not be the right one for you, as there are more things to take care of. For example your individual body shape and size. If you tell us a little bit more and let us know your preferred type of Stormtrooper (many variants being covered here), we can help you finding what you will need. Research and patience are the keys in this hobby, so we often suggest to take your time, save your money for the right offer and maybe use the meantime to build a blaster. Quote
swibowoj[TK] Posted January 27, 2020 Report Posted January 27, 2020 Hi Luca, About low budget, are you talking about Stormtrooper costume? If its Stormtrooper maybe you can do the research here first: How much does a suit of TK armor cost? https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/28304-how-much-can-i-realistically-expect-to-pay-to-finish-my-stormtrooper-costume/ I don't know about installment payment, but you can do the research and make a plan whatever you comfort and fit in your budget. The main parts and most costly will be hard parts, the armor, You can check and contact the maker, Where do I buy armor? https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11538-the-various-types-of-armor-and-where-to-find-them/ Or you can start planning buy the softparts first. Also you can contact Italica Garrison member for more information, there is an Attache in Italy, Davide @lorddavids 1 Quote
Saboshi Posted January 27, 2020 Author Report Posted January 27, 2020 Thanks to both of you guys! I wrote a dm to @lorddavids asking him some tips. @T-Jay the ANH version is the one i'd like to build one day I'm 6' 1'' tall and 187 lbs. @swibowoj Yes, i'm on low budget about the stormtrooper costume. I'm saving, but i don't have a lot of earnings since i don't actually work and i'm studying full time. Thanks again for the tips! 1 Quote
Hesikaya[TK] Posted January 27, 2020 Report Posted January 27, 2020 Welcome aboard Saboshi! Definitely take your time to do your research and save up for what kit you truly want to have. You don't want to have any buyers remorse. You can start looking at some build tips and how to's here: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/79-tutorials-tips-and-howtos/ and check out the feedback folks are getting by looking through the TK pre-approvals https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/193-request-tk-pre-approval/. Additionally if you strive for a more movie accurate set up look around in here for Expert infantry: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/95-expert-infantryman-program/ and even further with Centurion: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/66-fisd-centurion-program/. For tall troopers, some armor-makers also offer the shins in a longer version. First you should find out, if you'll need some of these, as this will affect your source to buy from. I would also suggest to get in contact with your local 501st unit, @lorddavids can surely introduce you. Join some of them on a troop, talk to the people and notice the differences of each armor. @troopermaster and RS Prop Masters (both in the UK) are very good sources for ANH. Quote
