So i just signed up for a paypal account specifically for building my own armour. While i wait for it to do its thing with verifying my bank etc i had a question i hoped you guys here could help me out with! Because I know there's probably quick and easy (painless?) answer that i can get from you guys that would take some time hunting on their site to find.

What is the procedure in doing business with another individual, such as looking in a gloves thread and all the guy leaves is an e-mail to paypal him.... what happens? what do i have to do?

Also i guess any internet buying tips are welcomed :) i have never bought anything off the internet before and need to know whats safe and the do's and don'ts. And i am sorry if i have a lot of questions about dumb things floating around the boards, its all just new to me so i am being careful.

Thanks for all the great support!! :D

Goto your paypal account double click on your account total and then click on my email address

Nah, on your paypal account screen there is a tab for Sending money, open that up and use the persons email address to complete the form, fill in the amount to pay...its pretty self explanatory once you get to that tab.

Then whoever you send it to will get an email saying....hey dude, you got some money. And then the guy will say sweet I'm getting a 12 pack!

Best thing to do is once you are verified, after like 45 days or something you can get a paypal debit card and PIN. Then you can use that card to make purchases with locally. Otherwise you have to transfer the money to your bank account to spend it. That is not an instant transfer and generally not quick enuff.

Hello again Brad,

So IMO there's really no absolutly safe way to purchase on line, especially whithin this type of costuming community where almost everything is off the radar, and hand made. I think the best thing to do is read the entire For Sale Thred, or Project Order Thred. Just as you would look at an on line auctioneer's Feedback Rating on the big E*** site, look for feedback from your fellow troopers. I have yet to find anyone on here who is a scammer, but it does require some financial trust.

If you use PayPal for items on the big E auction site, look for sellers that offer PayPal buyers insurance coverage. That means if they don't get you the product, you get your cash back through PayPal. NOTE: that will probobly never happen with project orders/threads here, just on the *bay FYI.

As for approaching someone who lists, "Coustome ROTJ glove orders" or what ever in a thread, If you read the topic they usualy list the preferd contact method. If it just says, send payment to ****@yourdomain.wtf I would send a PM (personal message) to the maker. If the thread shows active posts from other people saying, got mine last week, and you have not heard from the topic starter, PM someone who just got whatever and ask them about it.

When I went to get armor kit I just emaild cold to the paypal address, but only because previouse posts in the thread by FISD command staff said the topic starter does not get on very often, and recomeded emailing directly for inquiries. Everyone here has been very cool, polite, and open to questions, so always ask. Worst possoble case they write something mean to you :(

So all is being sorted out but in order to finalize everything they do the 2 small deposits of course, buuuut i checked my bank account online and i see no such deposits yet paypal says it was deposited yesterday. Is this just my bank being slow orrrr should i be worried?

PP is just a means of exchange. In the end it comes down to whether or not you trust the seller. The more you know, the less likely you will be burned.
