Krisko720 Posted November 30, 2019 Author Report Posted November 30, 2019 No big updates as I’m still waiting on a few items. But my boots finally arrived from Gio! Only took a month total. I ordered Saturday 10/26, he emailed me on Monday 10/28 asking my measurements. And then emailed me on 11/21 asking to confirm my shipping info. You can definitely tell they’re handmade. There is a little wiggle room, but seeing how they’re pretty flat and stiff, I’ll probably add some comfy insoles. In other news.. KB Props seems to be holding up to their promises and are shipping out BBBs starting next week! Should be arriving second week of December or so. Haven’t heard anything from 3-D Props yet on my blasters, but I know he’s super slammed with orders. Also need to talk with Geeky Pink about her gaskets.. she’s probably busy catching up on orders as well. Do you guys recommend Armor first and then order gaskets to fit? Or order the gaskets first? I know she has measurement forms for both. Sent from my iPhone using The Force Quote
JAFO[TK] Posted November 30, 2019 Report Posted November 30, 2019 Most importantly the gaskets need to fit you so you can move ahead with getting them produced.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro Quote
Krisko720 Posted November 30, 2019 Author Report Posted November 30, 2019 Neck Seal: Recessed or Straight Across? Gaskets: Semi-Sheen or Latex? Gaskets: Velcro or No Velcro? Should I get the under harness she makes? It says it’s just for attaching the gaskets to vest. I guess I’m lost on how it’s different from how the harnesses work for the armor. Are there two different harnesses? I was planning on using a tactical vest that I’ve seen a few of the guys wear. Sent from my iPhone using The Force Quote
JAFO[TK] Posted November 30, 2019 Report Posted November 30, 2019 I made my own H harness purely to suspend thighs as I didn’t want the weight of the thighs pulling down the ab.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro Quote
Krisko720 Posted November 30, 2019 Author Report Posted November 30, 2019 I’m dumb.. I’m not even following CRL. Centurion requires rubber. Any leads on who has rubber? I’m guessing Imperial Gaskets? My searches are only pulling up stuff from 2016 and 2017 for his gaskets. And then there’s a link to a page I can’t view on FISD. Can’t find anything in terms of anyone selling rubber.. I can see why not many go that route, kinda looks like a pain and I’m sure they’re hot and hinder movement. Question: Are you required to stay in Centurion approved gear to troop if you are going for that level? If not, when would you actually, if ever, need to gear up in appropriate level items? Krisko720 Posted November 30, 2019 Author Report Posted November 30, 2019 So I’ve been digging around looking at riot shields.. is it me or are there two different versions? One like what KB Props sells which is more square and one like what 850 Armor Works sells which is more rectangle. I see both of these on toys and in reference photos.. what’s the difference? The CRL seems to have been photographed using the more square one. Is either acceptable since it’s still rectangular per CRL specifications? Sent from my iPhone using The Force Quote
gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted November 30, 2019 Report Posted November 30, 2019 When the CRL was implemented there was only one vendor for the riot shield, then when more screen accurate images became available more suppliers came up with the rectangle design, I don't think you would have any issues with approval even with the CRL image but even if you did you could supply references to your GML or direct them to FISD's Detachment Leader 1 Quote
Krisko720 Posted December 5, 2019 Author Report Posted December 5, 2019 The CRL for the officer’s MP40 ammo pouch says no angled corners on flaps.. The ones I’m seeing online quite a bit have a massive angle taken off the flaps. Which is what I think is being referenced here. I found this pouch from Imperial Boots. It’s almost perfect. Is that slightly rounded corner of the flap acceptable? I’ve emailed them to ask if they can make these in a totally flat bottomed flap. Not sure if these are made in-house or not. Worst case scenario I can trim the flap and have the strap resewn a bit higher. Sent from my iPhone using The Force Quote

I made mine as accurate to screen references as I could, it is quite a bit different from other styles available. Made mine myself, not too hard, I've got to update my thread once I dig out the photos This is mine Quote

Krisko720 Posted December 9, 2019 Author Report Posted December 9, 2019 Just got a tracking number from KB Props.. looks like I made the first shipping run! Says delivery for this week. Sending in my Geeky Pink gasket and neck seal order tonight. Aside from those two items I’m just waiting on my shield, which will be here next week. My leather MP40 ammo chest pouch from IB. Holster and misc other parts from Dan. And my blasters, which I have yet to receive a reply email concerning time frame. Won’t be long! Sent from my iPhone using The Force Quote

Krisko720 Posted December 11, 2019 Author Report Posted December 11, 2019 Spoke with Teresa last night about my measurements.. she’s a hoot! Very helpful and fun to talk with. She said she will be working on this current run over the next couple of weeks. So I should see something the first part of January. My BBB is scheduled to deliver Thursday. So in anticipation of such, I went ahead and got some materials together. Got my big tote and picked up a new toolbox to keep a few things organized. And grabbed some sandpaper, small files, primer, paint, glue, Dremel, bits, etc. to have on hand. Even got my Trooperbay pauldron trimmed up. A little filler project I’ve been working on is modifying the Micom system I have. It’s similar to the TKtalkie setup except this one is a bit simpler and each click of a button scrolls through a specific prerecorded dialog menu. There are 8 buttons with over 50 lines total. He sells it with the pad that was connected to an elastic strap (meant to be worn around your hand. But the strap will interfere with my hand guard and the buttons are a bit hard to reach with the glove on. So I’m going to be splicing the control cable and splitting the lines into two. Running a set of four momentary switches for each glove, one for each finger tip. The small elastic loops are for the finger switches. The Phillips speaker is for the trooper track via MP3 player. The Micom will connect to a Bluetooth transmitter which will feed the receiver inside my bucket. That will be connected to the amp and play through my bucket mounted speakers. I should have some more updates when delivery day comes! Sent from my iPhone using The Force Quote

Krisko720 Posted December 13, 2019 Author Report Posted December 13, 2019 I swear anything related to Star Wars that comes to my house gets a shipping delay! Out of all of the Christmas gifts I’ve ordered, nothing has been late. But the minute I start waiting on something like my armor and shield... boom, both delayed. The armor is coming via USPS and may be weather related, Las Vegas to Denver. We’ve been getting some heavy snow out west in the mountains (will make for some great skiing this weekend though!) The shield is coming from Florida via FedEx and I have no idea what’s going on there. Hopefully they’ll be here tomorrow. In other news.. I got myself a little early Christmas gift. I love this little guy. A photo of this figure is what made me want to get some armor and join the 501st. He’s a bit tough to pose but the details are so awesome. Here’s to seeing some armor of my own tomorrow! Sent from my iPhone using The Force Quote
gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted December 13, 2019 Report Posted December 13, 2019 Man that sucks, hope it arrives soon. Great looking figure there 1 Quote
Krisko720 Posted December 14, 2019 Author Report Posted December 14, 2019 Well my armor is still on the USPS truck somewhere between here and Las Vegas. Called the Post Office and they said it’ll be maybe Monday before I see it.But my shield from 850 finally arrived! I’ve never worked with 3D printed stuff but these pieces will definitely need some work before they’re acceptable. Also, seems that there are some imperfections on the shield itself. Almost like there was some debris on the mold when the piece was pulled. Do I need to sand and skim coat this? Would this require some flexible type putty? Sent from my iPhone using The Force Quote
StarTrooper Posted December 14, 2019 Report Posted December 14, 2019 Looking awesome! For the 3D printed parts a good sanding should make those look smoother. About the imperfections in the shield itself, it probably won’t be a big deal, but if it bothers you, some Bondo filler would fix the imperfections, but you would have to repaint. Looking good though, can’t wait to see some BBB photos! 1 Quote

Looking good though, can’t wait to see some BBB photos! Thanks.. yeah I’ve seen differences in quality of printed items online, but I’m sure it all depends on the printer itself. I’m out of town until Monday for some skiing, but I’ll get to work on those once I get back. I’ll have to see how the trim ring will work on the window portion. It sort of overlaps the edge a bit. Just need to pick up some tinted plexi and try to get it all mounted properly. Another thing is to figure out what to do with the straps. I’ve seen KB Props’ setup. It’s what Ukswrath has. But it looks to me the screen accurate version is just a flat piece of black something with white straps. I was thinking of attaching the straps to an additional piece of abs, then overlaying that with a piece of stiff black foam. Something to keep the armor protected and keep the accuracy. Also thought about adding some magnets if needed. Of course these are just ideas. I’m sure someone (JAFO perhaps) will have some super secret behind the scenes shots of something more accurate!
