Should I have 2 or 3 straps between the kidney to posterior? If 3, I would have to go over the brackets and wouldn't that become a bit wonky? Maybe I should just use the brackets in addition with elastic straps as backup reinforcements on the sides of the brackets?

3 from kidney to posterior

Ok, so after measuring a bit on the shoulders I made the straps for them:

EZRpVCz.jpg

I also made this to glue to the chest part:

vJ3bQQc.jpg

However something about this is wrong, can you guess what? :glare:

THE SNAPS ON THE RIGHT STRAP WERE MADE ON THE WRONG SIDE!!!:6:

And of course I didn't realize that until I had already glued them on...

Fortunatly I managed to save it somewhat by making the left strap into the right. I will still need to Resew the other.

50/50 chance there, at least it's only a little more sewing ;)

@gmrhodes13 Yeah, it didn't go so well...:duimomlaag:

But I must inform that I have decided to keep the brackets as it seems like the best option right now. I maybe can reinforce them another way instead of plastic strips?

A couple of other ways to reinforce would be to use some fibreglass matt and resin, get's a bit messy for such small areas OR JB weld, it is grey though so would need to be painted afterwards, it's a 2 part system and takes a while to dry but is strong and sandable, I've used in on my FOTK build and it does reinforce really well any areas of cracking, could be an option ;)

I would do 3.  One toward the end of either side and one in the center.  For this area I suggest using nylon instead of elastic.  There's really not a ton of movement for that connection, and it helps prevent "trooper butt", where the posterior plate sticks out too far away from the kidney.

Update time!

Today I redid the snaps (right this time)

NTnOnST.jpg

And glued on the new left strap:

H23w24r.jpg

Also glued on the female snaps on the right side:

m72fQcS.jpg

Then I remembered; I hadn't put in the ab to belt snaps!

SYbQ2vE.jpg

ILHMdy6.jpg

That was a right pain to do this late. :deadhorse:

I also made holes for the cloth belt to the plastic one:

aq34ZRE.jpg

And then I followed your advice @justjoseph63 and made some nylon straps for the posterior to kidney. I couldn't put them exactly were you showed because of the brackets and I don't have that wide nylon, so I made four straps and put them a bit to the side. I will add the male snaps later.

Is it ok?

Do you have a photo of how high the ABS belt will be sitting once attached, Jonas?  It should sit just under (touching) or slightly overlapping the bottom button of the large ab-button panel.

Now I'm done for the day.

Well that deadline didn't work -_-

Anyway I glued on those male snaps on the armor:

eTsJTKd.jpg

And glued on the rest of the left shoulder strap:

And I put on the snaps and chicago screws for the belt:

They sat well with the armor on too :)

Now a question; I only have 1-1/4 wide elastic for the belt boxes, does that work?

Probably won't do anything tomorrow as a certain movie has premiere:popcorn:

Nordic garrison should be here in my local cinema in Umeå when I arrive so maybe I can get some pictures with them! :)

Now a question; I only have 1-1/4 wide elastic for the belt boxes, does that work?  That should be fine, Jonas.  When attaching them, make sure the tops of the drop boxes are snug up against the bottom of the ABS belt.

The present belt position will definitely get you to EI, but will need to be raised a bit if you are (hopefully) aiming for Centurion.

Hi, the CRL doesn't indicate an ecxat meassure for the elastic or nylon strap for the belt boxes. What it's needed is that they cannot be seen.

Well I'm back after seeing ROS, took some test fit photos:

Is the belt a bit high up here? I just turned it upsidedown since it would be a bother to make new snaps and remove the old.

baJn8sn.jpg

How does it look on me?

JFFS5mI.jpg

No trooper butt, it sits snug against my bum!

jeeg9LU.jpg

No gap!

7VE9EAm.jpg

Here it is a bit of a gap, can I put in another strap a bit lower?

x5f4aQe.jpg

The belt turned the right way:

Here is how it looks inside right now, I put in some velcro straps on some places that I can replace if they break.

The posterior plate should ride under the kidney, Jonas, and the belt can come up a lot.

So not UNDER, under?

Correct - Adjacent to and butted up against each other. Not overlapping.

A drop of E6000 on the straps to belt can help them stay in position ;)

Ok,I probably won't be able to do much during christmas, I don't have that much time.

On the other hand, I must do something so I don't forget to work on the armor.

So today I glued on the belt bottons

xNmXmoS.jpg

And started on the strapping for the arms:

By the way, does anybody else have problem viewing photobucket images?

Looking awesome, Jonas!

"By the way, does anybody else have problem viewing photobucket images"?

Unless you have a PB account, it is difficult if not impossible.  Many of the older threads here are being deleted, as the images were posted with PB and the images are blurred.

I did mention the issues with PB and advised we should try reaching out to the authors of the threads to see if they would update them.
