Mar2D2 Posted October 23, 2019 Author Report Posted October 23, 2019 After a few minor trims and adjustments, I will touch up the paint work and add the vent stripes and paint the ear screws white.Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk Quote
Mar2D2 Posted October 23, 2019 Author Report Posted October 23, 2019 I have found it really difficult to get the decals straight, may need to redo them in the future. What do other troopers think? Please let me know.Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk Quote
Mar2D2 Posted October 23, 2019 Author Report Posted October 23, 2019 I have also trimmed the brow slightly to straighten it out and trimmed around the base of the helmet, ready for installing the rubber 'S' trim.I'm nervous about cutting the final length for my rubber trim, as if any other trimming of the helmet base would make the trim too sort!I would really appreciate other troopers comments on my progress so far.?Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk Quote
CableGuy[TK] Posted October 23, 2019 Report Posted October 23, 2019 Hi MartynYou’re making speedy progress. Don’t forget, though, it’s a marathon not a sprint. ;-)If you have some photos of your helmet from front, back, left and right, ideally taken in good light and from around 6 feet away, that would really help. So far, I can see that the tubestripes will need some work to get you going. The are one of the trickiest parts to paint freehand so, I’d probably recommend using a paint stencil. Here’s a comparison; As you’ll see, yours are a little different in thickness and width and are also leaning backwards a little. If you need a recommendation for a template/stencil supplier, let me know. Out of interest, what reference material/photos are you using for your painting and build? Best wishesDan Quote

Best wishes Dan Hi Dan, I have removed the tube stripes a would be grateful if you could recommend a template/stencil supplier, as stated in you post. I found that the paint came off relatively easy with some white spirit and good old elbow grease. I haven't had a chance to take any new pics of my lid. (family and work commitments always interrupt my fun). Many Thanks, Martyn. Quote
CableGuy[TK] Posted October 28, 2019 Report Posted October 28, 2019 Hi Martyn Sure - I’ve just received the latest ones from RWA Creations (on Facebook) and they’re nice. Here’s an example (from my latest helmet build) with these templates. Helmet not complete yet but you get the idea. They’re easy to apply and are similar in design to screen used examples. The tubestripes should be approximately a pencil width from the cheek and the front fee stripes should lean forwards, towards the frown, with a template like these. See around 3:20 for a brief look at how they are positioned for painting; https://youtu.be/8c4vs-VfTRw As you’ll be clearing through the UK Garrison, I’d still suggest you get your thread started over there. I’ll happily help you with your build. :-) Dan 2 Quote

I still have some updating to do on both, but hope to get back on track soon.Cheers, Martyn.Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk 1 Quote

I would like to install my S-trim but worried that I have either trimmed off too much or not enough.I am still to sort out getting tube strip templates.Cheers, Martyn.Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk Quote
Rob .T .[TK] Posted November 17, 2019 Report Posted November 17, 2019 It's simple..leave the s trim until the end , after you have worn the helmet with neck seal and are happy with its fit. Then remember to cut it half inch too long and force it on , so that its own tension holds it in place . As to your build thread over on the U.K.G forum , no members can comment on your build except your allocated armourer , or other members of the tk armourers team . 1 Quote

Mar2D2 Posted November 20, 2019 Author Report Posted November 20, 2019 I received my Doopydoos E-11 kit last week. I have looked at a lot of Doopydoos E-11 builds on here, CableGuy's in my opinion is one of the best builds out there.I see that a lot of troopers have also purchased the Tino' s (T-Jays) conversion kit. I would like to try and source these parts my self and was wondering if any troopers had the sizes for the various screws, bolts, tubing etc? Thanks in advance. Mar2D2 Posted February 7, 2020 Author Report Posted February 7, 2020 It's been a while since I last posted on here. In that time I have been looking at as many build threads and gallery pics to make my TK Lid more stunt looking (raised brow) rather then hero looking. I know It's down to personnel preference, but after reading a post by 'CableGuy' I felt I would prefer a slightly higher brow.Let me know what you other troopers think of my lid. Before and after pics. (Apologies for the poor lighting).Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk 3 Quote
CableGuy[TK] Posted February 7, 2020 Report Posted February 7, 2020 Wow!! What a beautiful job on that lid!! Looks just like these bad boys... Painting and construction look ace! :-) 1 Quote

Yes comes up from time to time, many don't notice him in the movies until they actually start working on a costume. One of the many threads discussing him: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/23571-mr-no-stripes/ 2 Quote
Rob .T .[TK] Posted February 21, 2020 Report Posted February 21, 2020 I'm pretty sure that the mr no stripes look isn't acceptable for clearance with the UKG however ...just icase you were thinking it might be a nice way to sort out your tube stripe problems . 1 Quote
TheSwede[TK] Posted February 21, 2020 Report Posted February 21, 2020 Just to make it clear, It’s not acceptable for 501st approval in any Garrison 2 Quote
gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted February 21, 2020 Report Posted February 21, 2020 I don't think any GML would approve, no option for no tube stripes in the CRL: Helmet Tube stripes are medium blue, numbering between 9 and 16 per side with the curve bends extending backwards. 1 Quote
Mar2D2 Posted March 24, 2020 Author Report Posted March 24, 2020 I've not posted any of my progress for a while, so here goes; Left thigh: I had trouble with this as my thighs are larger than 1970's movie extras. I still need to attach the ammo pack using split rivits and trim a little more out of the return edges.Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk Quote
Mar2D2 Posted March 24, 2020 Author Report Posted March 24, 2020 Belt drop box trimmed: I have trimmed and also marked where I should be attaching the ammo box elastic, does this look correct? Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk Quote
Mar2D2 Posted March 24, 2020 Author Report Posted March 24, 2020 Most of the work recently has been on the main body parts. All trimmed and brackets installed. I haven't installed the elastic to the brackets yet (temporarily held together with Velcro strips). Any thoughts on what I've missed or need to address? Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk Quote
