DZFireMedic[TK] Posted August 12, 2019 Report Posted August 12, 2019 Original post discontinued and moved to Sub-Forum. My error, please forgive! Welcome all. So I’ve discovered this new addiction. I wonder if anyone else has experienced this as well. So I’m only a handful of troops in and I’m already trying to upgrade, add ons, and looking at other builds. I’m looking to add more of a variety for trooping so I’m happy that the HWT makes that a possibility. I’m currently very close to what’s needed for my ANH Stunt TK EIB submission so I figured I’d order a few things and post up as they come in and some WIP on my DIY backpack. (Thanks again UKSWrath!) I’m either as tall as or taller than several of the Vader’s in my squad and there’s quite a noticeable height difference among myself and some other TKs as well so I’m hoping the extra bulk will help fill me out more and hopefully live up to the “heavy” in HWT. Thanks! Ordered: Orange Pauldron (TrooperBay) DLT19 (Praetorian) New Canvas Belt (TrooperBay) Oil catch pan for backpack Quote

TheRascalKing[TK] Posted September 3, 2019 Report Posted September 3, 2019 (edited) Hey man - it looks like you got the BIG Clorox wipes container if I'm seeing your photos right. You DON'T want the "standard" 70-count wipe 4.5" container, you want the slightly smaller 35-count wipe 3.4" container (*or another similar sized container) to be more in line with the dimensions acceptable to the CRL. Hope this helps! https://www.amazon.com/35-Count-Disinfecting-Wipes-2-Pack-Bundle/dp/B00FY52DJ2/ref=sr_1_23?keywords=clorox+wipes&qid=1567544362&s=hpc&sr=1-23 Edited September 4, 2019 by TheRascalKing 1 Quote

DZFireMedic[TK] Posted September 7, 2019 Author Report Posted September 7, 2019 I’m thinking about using a spray satin or “varnish” on all the painted surfaces on the backpack to help improve durability. Anyone have any thought on this? Or other variant? Thanks!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
DZFireMedic[TK] Posted September 8, 2019 Author Report Posted September 8, 2019 This thing is looking like it’s almost ready to be assembled. I’d like to get a few more paint touch ups, some matte spray enamel to protect the paint surfaces, and figure out the straps. I’m looking at possibly just gluing the boxes to the base, riveting the siphon and wipes container, and screws for the tube... definitely more research or advice will help. Thanks all! Also planning on adding some padding to the back of the base where it’ll rest against the TK back armor. We’ll see. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
DZFireMedic[TK] Posted September 8, 2019 Author Report Posted September 8, 2019 I had a few beers tonight and was just not happy stopping for the night so I got to “battle weathering” the parts to this pack a little. Used metallic silver testors with a dry-ish brush technique... let me know Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
kman[TK] Posted September 9, 2019 Report Posted September 9, 2019 Nice progress! Have you figured out strapping yet? I'd work on that before you attach anything to the oil pan. Everything gets a lot more awkward once there are fragile things sticking out in multiple directions. 2 Quote
DZFireMedic[TK] Posted September 9, 2019 Author Report Posted September 9, 2019 No I haven’t, was going to work on that tonight. Great advice, thank you!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
TheRascalKing[TK] Posted September 16, 2019 Report Posted September 16, 2019 (edited) +1 to Kalani's comment - do strapping and anything else on that side first. Keep the strapping simple, IMO. I did a whole elaborate "backpack-style" strap thing, thinking it would be more comfortable... it was just more complicated and got in the way of the armor. Simple 1" nylon all day. I sewed clips in at the ends tho so I can just clip in and tighten down, then clip out. The O II panel supports most of the weight. I'm gonna be picking up some thin craft foam to line the round hole in the oil pan to give it some padding soon, and recommend it to others. It sits almost perfectly on the panel, but still.... DZFireMedic[TK] Posted September 17, 2019 Author Report Posted September 17, 2019 Home Stretch:Nylon straps and foam liner:Don’t ask me how because I fought with this thing and broke out a sweat and had to take a break and come back to it... I got the pipe secured with machine screws, washers and lock nuts:I have the wipes container secured with machine screws, washers and lock nuts and the siphon riveted to the oil pan base. Pain in the an impolite person but I finally got it and it looks like it’ll hold up well:The remainder of the boxes I’m just E6000-omg to the base, weights holding them down:All that’s left for this is a wash to weather it a touch and the enamel spray sealer.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
DZFireMedic[TK] Posted September 19, 2019 Author Report Posted September 19, 2019 Some pics after the glue has dried. I hit the pack with a light black and cream color spray for a battle weathered touch and sprayed an enamel paint sealer. Now this is done, I gotta figure out how I’m going to attach the shoulder mag pouch to the strap. gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted September 25, 2019 Report Posted September 25, 2019 Nice work, good luck with approval. Wouldn't hurt to add a little weathering to your armor and accessories since you weathered your pack the rest of you looks pretty clean May also want to reduce the large gap on your wrists, perhaps bring your biceps and forearms down a little. 1 Quote
