TK 14166[TK] Posted July 16, 2019 Report Posted July 16, 2019 (edited) Hey guys! So finally decicded to get the anthology set from Jim. I'm apart of the SCG group build that @TheRascalKing is a part of. I'm defintally excited to be in a group that'll double the number of anthology suits world wide. Half of that number in my own garrison! It's great to be apart of this team and working with everyone on this new challenge. ---------- Just waiting for our BBB to arrive and then I'll start posting updates on my progress. TK 14166[TK] Posted July 18, 2019 Author Report Posted July 18, 2019 So since there’s 8 of us in this run. We got our first of 4 BBB’s! No ETA yet on when the last 3 will arrive. We had our armor shipped to our buddy’s work place. (Also apart of our SCG build group.)Thankfully he was nice enough to start separating all the parts and put them in a box for each of us.And here’s my BBB. Just missing the helmet and the other few parts that were still awaiting. And I got my gloves from Endor Finders.I really like the feel of these gloves. They fit my hand pretty well. That’s all for now. More incoming soon! 1 Quote

They feel amazing cuz they're lined, but I hope they're not too hot here in SoCal... Did yours come with a string connecting them, and with opposite velcro on the backs of the hands (one hook, one loop)? Just curious! And of course the thing I want most (helmet) is delayed... hahaha Edited July 18, 2019 by TheRascalKing 1 Quote

Ahh no string on mine, but they do have the opposite velcro on the back of the hands. I really hope our helmets come in tomorrow. Lol 1 Quote
TK 14166[TK] Posted July 30, 2019 Author Report Posted July 30, 2019 Finally got everything in and was able to pick up my BBB! Definitely excited for this after opening it all up!Couple of things noticed, just some small cracks thankfully nothing major. And I’ll have to get the under suit taken in just a bit.But other then that, no major problems with this kit! Can’t wait to get with the others in our build group and start putting this thing together! 1 Quote
TK 14166[TK] Posted August 3, 2019 Author Report Posted August 3, 2019 Small update. I finished washing my armor. Thankfully the fiberglass isn’t to bad to the touch anymore. Meeting with the group today to discuss our plan of attack. 1 Quote
TK 14166[TK] Posted October 7, 2019 Author Report Posted October 7, 2019 Another little update. So sadly our group hasn’t been able to meet up due to a lot of conflicting schedules. But I haven’t let this stopped me! Now that I got one project done, time to go full force on this. Just got my boots in last week from Imperial Boots. As always, the boots are great. Today I was able to file out the teeth and vents. Some small progress, but it’s something! Next step is to reinforce the helmet a bit on its top side. 1 Quote
Darth147[TK] Posted October 13, 2019 Report Posted October 13, 2019 I made my frown holes a tad bigger hopefully I got them right have you done the tears and back vents and if so what did you use Quote
TK 14166[TK] Posted October 14, 2019 Author Report Posted October 14, 2019 I'm still thinking about taking them out... I noticed that for L3 it doesn't need to drilled out. But if I do, I would use a small drill bit and file the rest down. Quote
TheRascalKing[TK] Posted October 14, 2019 Report Posted October 14, 2019 I wanna reinforce and thicken em up from the backside before I mess with mine, forsure. I think a cutoff wheel on my Dremel might be the right size, then finish to the ends with jeweler's files. They're so thin tho, it makes me nervous and I do NOT want to bust one of those little vents if I can help it. I may not cut em at all, we'll see. I plan to troop in this armor so I want it to be STRONG. Looking good tho, man! 1 Quote
Darth147[TK] Posted October 18, 2019 Report Posted October 18, 2019 No dremel cutoff wheel messed up the BS helmet that way drill bit works better just need smaller files Quote
TK 14166[TK] Posted November 3, 2019 Author Report Posted November 3, 2019 Little fit test today! This is me holding the thighs up. They fall on my knees so I’ll need to make a thigh guarder set. So seeing how it all fits. I’ll have to cut the top of the barrel and thighs. And the bottom of the shins. I’m considering of maybe trimming the butt plate down too. I also cut the thigh in the back. I need to make it tighter so I’m basically not swimming in it. However as we can see the cover strip isn’t centered. So now I’m thinking of cutting it off and reattaching it. Thoughts on it? And this is what the thigh looks like before cut. Hoping to hear thoughts and advice. Thanks for taking a look! Quote
cjkirk11 Posted November 4, 2019 Report Posted November 4, 2019 I had to do a considerable amount of trimming as well. If you cut off the cover strip you would probably have to sand the back of it down to get the right thickness. The buttplate shape is a little off on Jim's kit so trimming around the bottom would work out. 1 Quote
TK 14166[TK] Posted November 4, 2019 Author Report Posted November 4, 2019 Gotcha. What did you use to cut? Quote
cjkirk11 Posted November 5, 2019 Report Posted November 5, 2019 I used a dremel with a cutoff wheel. To smooth it out I used my belt sander. Worked pretty well. Just watch for fiberglass dust. Use a respirator and long sleeves. 1 Quote
TK 14166[TK] Posted February 29, 2020 Author Report Posted February 29, 2020 (edited) Well now that the Rocket Trooper project is finally done I can focus on this now. First thing I started work on was resizing my legs and trimming them. Started with removing the back cover strips. Next I measured 2 inches from the top all the way around the thighs and used a dremel and cutting wheel to shorten it up a bit to fit me. After reading Yosh’s RO thread and seeing how the bottom of the calves bloom, I decided I wanted the bottom of my calves to also be in the correct shape. After all the cutting, time for another lower section test fit. I’m definitely very excited how they all came out. I’m able to walk around in it with no problems at all. But no time to sit and relax! Next thing I did was cut 1 inch around the top of the barrel. Now that all the cutting and trimming is done, I went into the wet sanding. I noticed that the armor has a lot of pores. Like this one here on the very top of my shoulder bell. So I’ve been using Spies Hecker 7715 to fill them all in. Waiting for a few more spots to dry, then it’s back to sanding. After that, it’s all ready for paint!! Seeing how far I’m getting right now makes me more excited for this project and definitely can’t wait to finish it. As always, looking forward to comments and suggestions! Edited February 29, 2020 by TK 14166 Quote
TK 14166[TK] Posted March 9, 2020 Author Report Posted March 9, 2020 (edited) A little more progress. All the wet sanding, filling the holes, and resin backed some of the parts. Finally got it sent in for paint! https://imgur.com/SDKEDnf Can’t wait to get it back and start strapping it up. Edited March 9, 2020 by TK 14166 Quote
TK 14166[TK] Posted March 14, 2020 Author Report Posted March 14, 2020 Hey guys. Blaster update! I’ve had this DLT-19 for a while now, I got it from Praetorian Blaster’s. My girlfriend helped me a lot with the weathering. I then got a sling from an air soft gun store next to my work. My good friend got me the flashlight as a surprise for me since I’m working on this project. Glad the blaster project is finished. Quote
TK 14166[TK] Posted April 13, 2020 Author Report Posted April 13, 2020 Been a while since I’ve gotten an update done. So my painter asked how I plan on wearing my barrel and thighs. I told him I’m planning on making suspenders. So he asked me to make them for him so he can hang the barrel and it’ll be easier for him to paint. So! A few weeks ago I got started on it. First thing I did was make snaps to place inside the barrel, and then using zap-a-gap I glued them in place. After that I placed snaps inside the thighs and cod piece. While waited for all of those to dry, I started on my belt. All of the boxes and the two black straps were riveted into the front piece. My painter sent me back my boxes painted. The belt teeth on the top were a bit big to fit perfectly into the barrel and I used a file to help size them down. Next thing I did was make this thigh garter with help from a friend. Using 2” webbing and buckles, I have 3 snaps here for different heights. But I find that the very top one suits me the best. Using 2” webbing and buckles, made the suspenders. And finally a test fit! I will say I’m very happy with the results how everything works and hangs. Hope to hear some feedback on this! Be safe, and remember wash your hands. 3 Quote
TK 14166[TK] Posted April 21, 2020 Author Report Posted April 21, 2020 Hello there! My painter sent back some more parts to me. Using the Zap-a-gap I glued together the front halves of the biceps and put Velcro on the back sides since I’ll be going for Lvl 3 on this suit. Next thing was to get the calves together. After doing some chatting with our SCG group a while back talked about stress cracks from opening and closing the calves to put them on and take them off. After talking with Jeff here on the forums and watching his build thread I decided to put them together the way he said he was thinking of doing it. With glueing down elastic in the front part of the calves so it has the room to move around and help reduce stress. Using zap-a-gap, I glued down the 2” wide elastic inside. I put 3 strips inside. Top, middle, and bottom. The results came out well and I am happy with it. Test fit went very well and it has 0 stress cracks from all the taking it off and on. Last thing I did today was get some of the strapping done for the shoulder bells and biceps. And that’s all I’ve gone so far! Definitely glad to see it coming along and I can’t wait to get the rest to actually make some good progress. They even sent me a little preview of the helmet. That’s all for now. Thank you for the interest! 1 Quote
TheRascalKing[TK] Posted April 21, 2020 Report Posted April 21, 2020 Nice dude! I think you're like literally just a few days ahead of me or near on my pace! I plan on doing my strapping very similar as well. How'd you attach the sniper knee, Velcro as well? Looking good! 1 Quote
