Hi all! I'm trying to do some fixes before I apply for Centurion and have some questions about sniper knee. I managed to remove it today...ugh...I want to make sure I can remove the bottom edge so it fits better, and hopefully make it straight. Also do i need to take some of the top to shape better or is that part ok? Thanks, Pam TK-10867ca752489af3c46c08f5438f475c07bc2.jpgc30ef2d3551ed289db7cfd26e7a0a6f6.jpg

Hi, Pam .

You did a great job with the botton edge.  I think the top is ok.  You would like to check this centurion thread , it's the same armor maker and similar in height as you.

Good luck but I'm sure you don't need it. see you in Centurion.

Hi Pam!

Great to see you getting ready for Centurion. You shouldn't need to do any reshaping of the top of the knee. I did remove all of the bottom return edge on my sniper knee.

Thanks! I told Dan "the Swede" that before I do anything with the fixes that I am going to ask you guys first. I have come so far, I dont want to make any mistakes. I wasnt sure where to post my questions for centurion? Hope this area is ok.

In addition to the above as you begin to install and check for fitment, before final gluing if you start to see cracking in the lower return edge corners you might want to remove all of it. Some armor material will crack in this area and removing all the lower return edge will help prevent that. Keep up the good work :duim:

Sniper knee fix...ready to glue? How does it look? It does seem to fit much better with ridge off. f3928b915ee10af65ddea00eb04013a2.jpge16d7feb48b1c918b89fc21f93dbe476.jpg6aa6a0c91048bdc2ad781cd65eb32cf5.jpg

Don't panic, it doesn't have to be perfect lol

To give it a bit more flexibility at the bottom and allow it to sit closer to the front of the calf, it couldn't hurt to remove a bit more from the lower part.

I was wondering how much I could take off. I'm going to take a smidge more

Hi all! Me and the sniper knee are not getting along, lol. I have gotten both sides to line up. I need to get excess glue off, but it will have to wait. I am at the point where I feel it is as good as I can get it. What do you guys think? Thanks, Pam49d729aa85cb8d5ca26a8173257decbe.jpg55e0171dcc7e9c58f387ea42860a5c3d.jpg91444844647e0585e1115639feb1cf9b.jpg

Hi Pam, As I can see, is that the rigth side is aligne with the ridges of the shin as it was requested in your EIB submission, but the left one I think  seems a little low. I'm not sure about the inner part, and if it's going to be an issue. Hope some else could give some advice.

Looking at you EIB submission I note that you made the sniper knee correction. It was ok there.

Cheers

The CRL need to be rewritten. The original knee plates didn't follow the tops of the shins exactly and it's asking a lot to do so.  I think you should just get them on as neat as possible, regardless if they slope one way or the other, they should just look neat.

I remember one of my guys cutting his shin plate because it was mentioned his knee plate didn't follow the shin. It was an extreme measure but that's the lengths some people will go to in order to fit in.

I think Pam's knee plate looks spot on now :duim:

I always understood it meant the lower corner of the return edge.

And that's how I approved applicants. Yes the top section needed to be trimmed a certain way but it wasn't the main focus.

Thanks you guys! The knee has given me grief for the past week, lol. I am ready to move on to the next thing to fix. The thermal detonator! Hopefully this won't be so tough!

Hi Pam

Just a friendly reminder that the TD was only a suggested fix :salute:
