Ok lets try this again.

Greetings folks! I am new to all of this but very excited. Been wanting Trooper armor since I was a kid and now I finally have the means so here we go!!!

Still not one hundred percent if I will be doing a Battlefront Shadowtrooper or just the Shadowtrooper. I really like the white Imperial logo on the chest but not sure if I like the blue on the helmet or not. So for now, I will just be making it a Shadowtrooper.

So day 1 in about four hours, I trimmed all the extra off all the parts and then using painters tape, I attached it to my mannequin. Unfortunately my mannequin is six feet tall but I am only five- eight. Didn't think that one through when I first bought it, but back then I also didn't think I'd be using it for an actual project. Oh well, it'll work for now.

I didn't take many photos but here is what I have so far.  I used the score and snap method which ended up being pretty easy once I got a rhythm going.

I am currently waiting on underarmor I ordered from Amazon so I can start getting things sized and whatnot. Hopefully Weds it will show up.

Ok, lets see if i got this photo thing finally figured out!

So I really want to get to work sizing everything. I'm still waiting on the correct size undersuit which wont be here till monday at the earliest. Anyone think it would be fine for now to wear the larger size Anovos Undersuit so I can start sizing the armor? It might not be AS tight as the correct size, but I'm thinking the difference between the two wont be THAT great.

Ideas?

Besides the fabric dye bleeding onto your armor there's nothing wrong with the Anovos supplied under suit. Since you have a black costume you won;t even see the bleeding.

I did to my skin for sizing, For me the compression suit did not matter for fitting.  I suppose it would really matter pending on what your undersuit is made of

I agree that it is a tiny difference, if any at all.  I wore my undersuit when fitting, but I think you could get away without it.

The undersuit will stop you getting armor bites (pinching) but as mentioned won't make a lot of difference.

Off to a good start, looking forward to the progress

yeah it's just a few people have said to wear the undersuit when sizing. The one I currently have is a large but I need a Medium.

Definitely do that

Just because I am very OCD and like to make shopping lists, can anyone give me some info on where I can get an E11 Blaster level 2 ready? Same for DLT-19 Heavy Blaster?

I also saw on the SPec ops site (for specialist) I need rubber chemical gloves? where to find those?

i saw a few older comments about Hyperfirm but then read another thing saying they became bad at returningno longer make them and got bad at replying to people?

on the 501st CRL for level 2 (other troopers have level 3?) it says to have a folding stock but then says stock doesn't need to function?....??

1: every photo I have ever seen, I swear there isn't a stock. Am I a crazy person?

2: So they want it foldable or not? Foldable to me means that it functions...

"correct style scope" ummmm..... so? hahahaha

I am sure praetorian will know whats up. just thought that was confusing.

so much info everywhere!! my head is going to explode!! :)

Nothing has to be functional, it just has to look correct.

I have several Praetorian blasters, all are top notch grade and 100% L3 accepted.

Here is the folding stock (outlined in red):

This particular one is of the "functioning" type, but the ones that are molded in (Hyperfirm/Praetorian) as Tony mentioned are completely fine all the way to level 3.

looking at Praetorian's FB, there are three models of the E11. Is one better than / preferred over the others? Do people prefer the rubber ones over ones with electronics? Don't care about price, just want the best I can get. If I'm going to do it, I like to do it right the first time.

Want to start sizing and as I get the forearm (right) on I realize how huge these are compared to my arms. I don’t have tiny arms but this makes me look miniature!

So, I know I obviously will need to trim maybe an inch or so to get it smaller. But looking at them together as is, they are already a little oval shaped. So in my head, trimming them will make them even more oval shaped.

So I’m thinking a few things in prepping.

I’m either going to have to cut them and then add more plastic to round them out, OR cut them and then very carefully heat them and bend them to shape. So the overall end product is cylindrical.

Thoughts? Advise?

My suggestion as mentioned on numerous Anovos build threads, if you have plenty of room between your arm and the armor only trim so that your left with roughly 8mm flat surface on each side for the cover strip, starting with the forward facing (or upward) surface. If you have to take a little off at a time, it's much easier to remove material then it is to add it.

Even if it's loose when assembled just add fabric foam to the interior when finished. The forearms are proportional to the biceps and bells, same with the legs. If you trim too much off one area the armor will look odd when you're done.

So besides exacto knives and a box cutters, what type of scissors/snips do you guys prefer for rounded edges?

I used tin snips for trimming. Where exactly are the rounded edges you speak of? ;) I usually just used tin snips or razor blade. If the cut wasn't ideal I usually sanded it smooth.

“Rounded” like to take the return edge off the wrists and whatnot. I know I’ll do a good amount of sanding anyway, but I always look for the most efficient ways of doing things. Very OCD they way.
I’ll look into tin snips. I have a few but those are huge and totally wont do.
