Before I forget, you can angle the ammo pack up to help with walking (clearing the knee cap). You will still have the "trooper waddle" but your knees will thank you. ;)

Thanks all for the pics and advice. Whilst cooking dinner I decided to reshape the ammo pack. Does this look ok or does it need to be flush on all knee end facets? Softened the bends as it was but one bend is on a ammo box so difficult to get that bend in

Hiya,

Just to be safe, I thought I’d mention the positioning of the thigh Ammo pack. At the moment, yours is positioned too high. As below, the top of the thigh ammo pack should sit on the upper ridge of the thigh.

If you were only test fitting, no worries. Just didn’t want you to accidentally glue and fix it there. ;-)

If you wanted to go extra steps, you could consider adjusting the shape a little - roughly as I’ve marked on the picture. This would mean a 90 degree, square cut on the top corner and a slightly wider lower curve.

Also, don’t worry if the middle ammo pack (3rd of 5) is in the middle. It doesn’t have to line up with the cover strip. As below, the screen used ones were usually off centre.

Keep up the good work. :-)

Thanks, that’s all really useful. Going to shape as much as I can then trim the end and add the curves in. All great advice and support as usual from everyone, really appreciate it

Looking good! And lots of great advice :)

Only other thing I'd add is that a small amount of e6000 behind the thigh ammo pack will keep it secure against the thigh and stop it from rotating out of position.

Keep it up!! :salute:

Ok, so carried on heat bathing and think I’ve got as close as I can get it. Is it usual for it to be slightly angled up towards one side? Whilst I was at it, I heated up sniper knee and bent top sides in after trimming them down yesterday, think I’m happy with it compared to how it did look

That's gotta be one of the best build pics ever.

And the sniper knee looks good so far!

Also any idea where I get 6mm single cap rivets? Needed for knee ammo pack

Same rivets as used for the ab/kidney connection.

Quick test fit of leg armour this morning, John Wayne pose is due to not having a belt of leg elastic in yet. Going to get sniper knee and ammo belt fitted next

Good range of motion with the thighs! Nice work!

I’ve got ridiculously long legs so no risk of leg parts clashing at top or bottom

Are you leaving the return edge at the top of the thighs?

I’m planning too, my legs are so long and thin that it gives them a bit of depth to match the top half of the armour

I’m think I’m getting close to fishing. Cover strip on back of one shin to do, then Velcro to add. Sniper knee to glue on (Blu tac used for test fit). Thigh ammo pack to secure in place (screwed in for test fit) couple other bits and pieces. Just waiting for gloves to arrive.

Thank you. I’m going to have to fit some helmet fans, it gets a bit foggy in there

Any good suggestions for popper/slider connection for ab-kidney pieces. Realised I can’t get fingers in to attach lower popper and was going to add another lower down. I’ve glued in a piece that slides into another bit in middle to stop the pieces moving but might redo that side if anyone has any cool ideas for this before glueing in more poppers.
Finally fixed thigh ammo pack and glued cover strip to back of other shin then to glue on sniper knee. Gloves waiting to be collected from post office then maybe I might be nearing completion?

If you are talking about the right hand side then in my opinion the only snap needed is the top one as the belt holds the rest:salute:

Making a few modifications whilst bits drying. Added a head piece from a visor shield, bolted it onto some firm pads which are velcroed in to sides, I have a small head but this has made it fit nicely. Troopercoola fan set on order. Might get a voice changer installed too

Good point. I’ll try it out before doing anything radical

Sniper knee glued, shins finished, glued a bit of Velcro to back of belt and ab to keep that in place. Adjusted counter on blaster.
I think I’m ready to do submission pictures this weekend. Apparently I have to apply for a 501st number? Then apply for full access on FISD, then apply for each level? Any tips on where I go for all of this?

Hey bud,

You’ll be applying for clearance through your UKG WIP. The guys will advise on applying for your TKID. That part is done at 501st.com but requires UKG approving your costume.

Once you are UKG cleared and get your TKID, you can request your FISD Trooper status here;

Hope that helps a little. Exciting times. :-)

Thanks buddy, that’s a lot clearer. I’ll see what they need for First stage and get that done. That’s been a busy few months in the man cave but really enjoyed the challenges and triumphs. Can see why people don’t just stop with the first one. Ordered a TRamp system today and will fit Troopercoola set when they arrive. Gone a bit over budget but worth it

Haha. You won’t regret it. I’m a TRamp too and it’s been faultless for me.

Really chuffed for you. Getting clearance is a super exciting day. :-)
