gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted March 15, 2019 Report Posted March 15, 2019 Nice work, definitely a good idea to use double snaps in key areas, shoulder bells are another great area, they do take some abuse and having two snaps has helped me in the past from being able to troop when one let go 2 Quote
Linz[TK] Posted March 17, 2019 Author Report Posted March 17, 2019 Button panels painted today, side poppers added, fashioning a slide catch to help keep it aligned. Elastics added to arm parts. Gloves ordered. Re measure of legs so hope to get them finished this week. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
Linz[TK] Posted March 18, 2019 Author Report Posted March 18, 2019 Any AM people out there who can help with drop box issue? Clearly got 2 slightly smaller boxes and 2 larger, assume smaller should sit completely inside larger but no way they’ll go in. Thought I’d ask before sanding the life out of the smaller boxesSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
Linz[TK] Posted March 18, 2019 Author Report Posted March 18, 2019 Also any idea where I get 6mm single cap rivets? Needed for knee ammo pack Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

Then sand the inner box until it is flush or just under (so it does not push out). Put some weight in it so they will hang down when worn (I used brad nails and e6000), otherwise they tend to flop around and get stuck. 1 Quote
Linz[TK] Posted March 21, 2019 Author Report Posted March 21, 2019 Belt finished, upgraded holster as first one was rubbish. Just glueing thighs together, then onto shins. Quick one regards sniper knee, fits flush but seems to have a fair bit of trim topside showing. Does this need trimming or is positioning wrong? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
LTM[TK] Posted March 21, 2019 Report Posted March 21, 2019 You will want to put on the shin and then place the sniper plate to see how far out it should go (or it might interfere with your knee cap). Look at the centurion submissions for AM to see the front and side profile of the plate. I also thinned mine down to help with clearance. Quote

I just can’t see how mine can get that fit without the need for trimming down the top sides? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

Weighing the drop boxes down by inserting something inside is brilliant. Thanks for the tip! :-D Keep it up, Linz! That sniper knee is a pain in the rear. *Please* don't just take my word on this, since I don't have an AM, but to me it does look like your knee has a return edge that was trimmed off in those AM Centurion photos. 1 Quote
LTM[TK] Posted March 21, 2019 Report Posted March 21, 2019 No way I could get mine to follow the ridge and still be able to troop. This was mine below. If I didn't angle it out (thus not following the shin line) AND pad the front of the shin to further push it out, I could not march. Note that I did trim the top part. Save this step for last, you really want to be able to kit up and walk around comfortably first before adding in the sniper plate. 1 Quote
LTM[TK] Posted March 21, 2019 Report Posted March 21, 2019 If you have not already done the back of the shins, give the magnet version a try. So easy to take on and off and you can always be assured that they look good from behind. Quote

I’ll go with Velcro and if any issues can always upgrade to magnets. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

I love how strong it is but it’s a job wrestling stuff to fit if not exactly matched. Getting there, nearly fished top section, glueing thighs tonight then hoping to get shins done tomorrow. Few bits I want to revisit but think I’m winning. It’s a labour of love isn’t it but enjoying it, don’t think I read up this much when I was at university Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
LTM[TK] Posted March 21, 2019 Report Posted March 21, 2019 Yep, AM kit myself. If you are having to wrestle anything, just do a hot water bath. Before bath: After bath 1 Quote
Linz[TK] Posted March 22, 2019 Author Report Posted March 22, 2019 With the thigh ammo pack, could someone give me pointers on where it’s supposed to attach to the leg? Seen lots of threads but can’t quite tell whether I need to trim ends etcSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
Digz Graavz[TK] Posted March 22, 2019 Report Posted March 22, 2019 Fitting the sniper knee is a right of passage, much like the S-Trim on your bucket. I think mine was 4 tries. As has been said, look at the Centurion threads. Line it up as best you can on the sides, get it level and lined up in the front. Hot water baths can work miracles. Adding foam padding behind the shin on that side is almost a must to keep it out of the way. Quote

Just waiting for shins to set them I’ll tackle it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

LTM[TK] Posted March 22, 2019 Report Posted March 22, 2019 You will need to hot water bath the pack to get it to conform to the thigh. Ends will need to be cut, but only after forming it. Here was mine for reference: Link goodness: Quote
Linz[TK] Posted March 22, 2019 Author Report Posted March 22, 2019 Thanks all for the pics and advice. Whilst cooking dinner I decided to reshape the ammo pack. Does this look ok or does it need to be flush on all knee end facets? Softened the bends as it was but one bend is on a ammo box so difficult to get that bend inSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
LTM[TK] Posted March 22, 2019 Report Posted March 22, 2019 From what I can see it looks good. Start on one side, drill the holes and put in the fastener (I used a bolt and nut as temporary), then bend around to mark the other side. Use the billhag diagram for hole locations. For final you will want the split rivet, but for fitting I suggest the bolts and nuts in case you need to move anything when you are doing final fitment. 1 Quote
