tk0000[501st] Posted September 4, 2008 Report Posted September 4, 2008 (edited) (I'LL HAVE TO SPLIT THIS UP BECAUSE THERE ARE MORE PICS THAN ALLOWED PER POST) Okay. where to begin? I'll start by giving credit to EVO3 for the fantastic job on the the grappling hook itself. I also need to give credit to VacTrooper for vacuforming the box to the demension that i requested and the extra strips of plastic that were needed. THANK YOU! Here's is what i know about the grappling hook........................ There are at least 2 screen used versions. When tk421 boards the falcon you can see a toggle switch on the upper left hand side of the box. you can also see what appears to be a strip of plastic running down through the "holster ring" ------ Edited January 14, 2022 by gmrhodes13 link not working removed Quote
tk0000[501st] Posted September 4, 2008 Author Report Posted September 4, 2008 (edited) After Luke steals the tk armor, you can see the switch is still there in the trash compactor scene. The grappling hook itself is missing. --------- Edited January 14, 2022 by gmrhodes13 link not working removed Quote
tk0000[501st] Posted September 4, 2008 Author Report Posted September 4, 2008 (edited) After Luke discards the armor and is wearing just the tk's belt, the toggle switch is no longer there. --------- Edited January 14, 2022 by gmrhodes13 link not working removed Quote
tk0000[501st] Posted September 4, 2008 Author Report Posted September 4, 2008 (edited) So there's no switch on lukes stolen TK belt ? Not exactly................. Later after escaping the Death Star when Luke climbs down the latter in the Faclon durring the Tie Fighter attack the switch can be seen again and you can also see the grommet where the wire comes out. -------- Edited January 14, 2022 by gmrhodes13 link not working removed Quote
tk0000[501st] Posted September 4, 2008 Author Report Posted September 4, 2008 (edited) So, here is what i've come with using EVO3's grappling hook and VacTrooper's utility box. Edited January 14, 2022 by gmrhodes13 photo updated Quote
tk0000[501st] Posted September 4, 2008 Author Report Posted September 4, 2008 (edited) I used a retractable keychain that reaches for enough for showing off and twirrling the grappling hook around, but not enough to swing accros the death star. Luke will be in for a supprise if he steals my belt ------ I used a standard toggle switch and a washer for the wire grommet and painted them black. I also rivitted the "holster ring" on before gluing the strip of plastic on. My canvas belt is being modified or i would have had it in the pics. FYI: VacTrooper said he would make up some more box's if anyone is interested. The box will need to be painted glossy white to match your armor. Daetrin[Admin] Posted September 4, 2008 Report Posted September 4, 2008 I think that's about as good as one can get. Sweet!!! I'm ashamed to say mine hook is still wrapped - no time for side projects this month Quote
themadguitarist Posted September 4, 2008 Report Posted September 4, 2008 ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo pretty! Quote
troopermaster Posted September 4, 2008 Report Posted September 4, 2008 Good job, looks very nice I'm hoping to make one of these myself, and have an idea for an extra long retractable wire Quote
Boozel Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 very nice, I kind of always thought there was a retractable keychain type deal in there, even as a kid..lol Nicely done capturing the essence of it. Quote
firebladejedi[TK] Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 Awesome thread im looking at getting my grapling hook underway this weekend cool. Quote
TK8776 jgarrettg Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 Very cool. You ought to change the line to Kevlar kite string. The kind they use on those big control kites. Then you could dangle from it around the house. :) Quote
VacTrooper Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 WOW!! that turned out REALLY nice!! BTW, intrest thread starting for those interested in one of these boxes for their hooks... Quote

rdhawk[501st] Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 Now if you could just design a retractor wind-motor that you flip the toggle switch with, and use the previously mentioned Kevlar string or something stronger...... Quote
