Although I stocked up on some new weaponry and protected against any malfeasance. Quote
Scimitar[TK] Posted February 19, 2020 Author Report Posted February 19, 2020 Troop #: 18 Date: May 9, 2019 Location: Cancer Treatment Centers of America Event: Nurses Week Celebration Event Charity: N/A We got to go celebrate Nurse's Week at one of the local hospitals. Two of the members that attended are nurses (my wife (as Mara Jade here) is an ICU nurse at this particular hospital) so this was great fun for them. Our little group: Some of the folks we got to celebrate with: Quote

Scimitar[TK] Posted February 19, 2020 Author Report Posted February 19, 2020 Troop #: 20 Date: June 30, 2019 Location: Chastain Park, Atlanta, GA Event: Weird Al Strings Attached Tour Event Charity: N/A If you have the opportunity to troop one of these concerts, do not let it pass you by! Yes, there's a lot of standing around and waiting involved, but this still ranks up there with one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had. Performing on stage in TK gear in front of thousands of people with Weird Al was just surreal, Childhood Me would have never believed it. Al and his group made us feel like a part of the team and we all got to go home with awesome memories, great pictures, and some signed goodies. Scimitar[TK] Posted February 19, 2020 Author Report Posted February 19, 2020 Troop #: 22 Date: November 10, 2019 Location: Phipps Plaza Event: Bert's Big Adventure Holiday Party Event Charity: Bert's Big Adventure We do a lot of Bert's events throughout the year and each one is great and special in its own way. These are some of the toughest kids going through some of the most unimaginable things, and anything we can do to make their day just a little better is amazing. Anyway, this was a holiday party for the kids and parents alike, and the GA 501st and one of the local Disney groups came out to participate as usual. We get to see Santa!! Quote
Scimitar[TK] Posted February 19, 2020 Author Report Posted February 19, 2020 (edited) Troop #: 23 Date: December 7, 2019 Location: Peachtree Street, Atlanta Event: CHOA Christmas Parade Event Charity: Children's Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) This year was not so bad as last year, the weather was actually cooperative and the parade moved at a much smoother pace. A huge improvement over the sideways, almost frozen rain of last year and the long times spent standing still in it. My wife got to march in her Legacy: Look ma, I'm on TV! A great turnout as usual from all of our Georgia groups: Edited February 19, 2020 by Scimitar 4 Quote
Scimitar[TK] Posted July 2, 2020 Author Report Posted July 2, 2020 (edited) Troop #: 24 Date: February 20, 2020 Location: Hilton Atlanta Airport Hotel Event: Bert's Big Adventure Sendoff Event Charity: Bert's Big Adventure I was able to do this event last year and was excited to be able to participate again this year. Another cold day in the hangar for the sendoff portion but still a very rewarding experience. Bert's Big Adventure is a huge charity in the Atlanta area, their big event each year is to send children (and their families) who have chronic and terminal illnesses to Walt Disney World for five days, all expenses paid. They also have numerous other events throughout the year. Jimmy wants to be a Stormtrooper when he grows up, so Cricket's son graciously donated his armor to Jimmy, seen here in a test fitting/photo op: All of the costuming volunteers: With the boss: Rebels snuck into our Imperial group shot: Edited July 2, 2020 by Scimitar Quote

Not a large or long troop by any means but a lot of happy kids and parents to greet and take pictures with. Edited February 20, 2022 by Scimitar 3 Quote
Scimitar[TK] Posted March 2, 2023 Author Report Posted March 2, 2023 (edited) Troop #: 26 Date: August 31 - September 5, 2022 Location: Atlanta, GA Event: DragonCon Event Charity: n/a Some of you may have seen Dolores from Imperial Human Resources on YouTube, Instagram, or Tik Tok, I'm a big fan of her skits. When I found out that she was coming to DragonCon I messaged and asked if she'd like to have an "HR-TK" to back her up as she handed out citations to con goers. She enthusiastically said yes and with the help of @revlimiter vinyls were made to apply to one of my pauldrons. The result was a ton of fun and we were super well received! Soon enough the HR-TK was officially named "Dan" and I've now happily added that to my list of aliases. We will return at DragonCon 2023, you've been warned. Scimitar[TK] Posted March 2, 2023 Author Report Posted March 2, 2023 Troop #: 27 Date: February 22, 2023 Location: Atlanta, GA Event: Bert's Big Adventure Sendoff Event Charity: Bert's Big Adventure If you've read through this thread, you've probably realized this is one of my favorite events of the year. Although for the last couple I was not in my TK, mainly because Mando has been a big hit with the kids and I enjoy doing whatever I can to help get their minds off of life for a bit. It was another solid turnout this year & a lot of happy kids, there was an evening party just for Star Wars (which is what I attended) and the normal morning send off with the Disney Princess group and more Star Wars characters. It had been a while, a TK selfie was needed: Can't find the droids you're looking for? Apparently a droid beachball will do! A lot of the kids enjoyed playing catch, others enjoyed "spaceball", which was me throwing the ball and they'd hit it with toy lightsabers. There's those pesky droids: 4 Quote
Scimitar[TK] Posted October 10, 2023 Author Report Posted October 10, 2023 Troop #: 28 Date: October 7, 2023 Location: Tyrone, GA Event: Tyrone Founder's Day Festival & Parade Event Charity: N/A Lots of shenanigans this year as Dan but clearly not many troops as a regular ol' TK, so I got it out this past weekend to help support an event that's only 15-ish minutes away, which is unusual as most troops are on the north side of Atlanta and over an hour away. There were only two of us in attendance, myself and a buddy with his MMCC kit, but we made the most of it, had a lot of fun, and there were a lot of smiles and excited folks! Little over a mile march for the parade and lots of pictures at the festival afterward. My daughter was super excited to help handle and also hand out candy, she did a great job! 1 Quote
