Scimitar[TK] Posted September 30, 2018 Report Posted September 30, 2018 (edited) I give permission for FISD to repost my photos on social media. Troop #: 1 Date: September 28, 2018 Location: Fayetteville, GA Event: Pinewood Studios "The Last Jedi" Friday Night Movie Event Charity: Armed Forces Mission - Intervention of local veterans at risk of suicide First deployment went perfectly! A little rain reduced the expected turnout a bit as it was an outside event, but it was perfect for shaking down the new kit and lots of fun was had regardless! There were a ton of smiles and high fives and people asking for pictures. I'm already planning to attend Trooping Anonymous as I now understand why this is so addictive. Next troop is tomorrow! Pictures: Someone gave this Rebel a blaster! The crew: And my daughter got to meet Leia. She was so excited! I'll edit this post if/when any more pictures are posted. Scimitar[TK] Posted October 2, 2018 Author Report Posted October 2, 2018 (edited) Thanks a lot fellas!! I'm definitely enjoying it so far!! Event Charity: N/A Second deployment went just as well as the first! This was a much larger event with hundreds of attendees and we had 25-30 participants show up ranging from Jawas to the boss himself. Lots of smiles, hugs, high fives, pictures, videos and explaining to kids that TK17529 really is my name. Oh, and that I wasn't a robot. I started the event by commandeering a SWAT Armored Vehicle, no easy feat in armor! Great spot for targeting Rebels, not so great for getting in and out of: Second we arrested a scavenger who was attempting to steal an orange and white BB unit: Got some pictures with the boss and his daughter: Pretty sure Leia is looking for a weak spot in my armor: And a group shot because a handful of us ended up together: Edited October 2, 2018 by Scimitar 2 Quote
Scimitar[TK] Posted October 16, 2018 Author Report Posted October 16, 2018 Troop #: 3 Date: October 13, 2018 Location: Newnan, GA Event: Zombie And Super Hero Day Event Charity: Make-A-Wish, Promotion for Star Wars Reads (Coweta County Library System) Third deployment was a fun one, the weather was perfect, and it was a great mix of all kinds of superheroes, villains, and zombies. I brought out the DLT-19 just in case any of those zombies got too rowdy. Kids and adults alike all had a blast as there were so many genres being represented in one spot. And an article from the local paper: --------------------------------------------------------- Troop #: 4 Date: October 13, 2018 Location: The Barn at Oak Manor, Newnan, GA Event: Wedding of Chadwick & Purvis Event Charity: The Zone at CHOA This was a surprise to the bride and groom who both love Star Wars very much. The groom submitted the request but the follow up was done through the wedding coordinator, so they had no idea that anyone had actually signed up. So TK 64622 and I (both of us now being referred to as "The Surprise") got prepared and as soon as the bride and groom were announced at the end of their ceremony, the doors opened and we proceeded down the aisle to escort the bride and groom back out. It was hard to tell who was more excited: the bride, the groom, or those in attendance, but I'm pretty sure it was the groom. We were asked to participate in the photos and we also made sure to take photos with anyone who asked. That was an awesome experience and an honor to be a part of. Quote
Scimitar[TK] Posted November 2, 2018 Author Report Posted November 2, 2018 Troop #: 5 Date: October 28, 2018 Location: Zoo Atlanta Event: Boo At The Zoo Event Charity: N/A We had amazing weather for this event, considering it had been cold and raining in the days leading up to this event, so the turnout was awesome. The Great Jawa Horde was out in force and Sandy the Sandcrawler even made an appearance. I attempted to protect my Garrison mates and take out a zombie, but you know how that goes... --------------------------------------------------------- Troop #: 6 Date: October 30, 2018 Location: Coweta County Central Library Event: Coweta County Library - Star Wars Reads Event Charity: N/A This was a smaller event helping to support family and literacy programs at one of the local libraries. The turnout was still great and the kids really enjoyed our presence! Might be worth a watch: Curse you Han Solo!!! I am wiped out! 1 Quote

I don't quite remember what they're made of but the panels are attached to the bus via a metal framework system and are removable and all fit inside the bus itself. It's amazing to see in person!! Scimitar[TK] Posted December 3, 2018 Author Report Posted December 3, 2018 (edited) Troop #: 7 Date: 11/25/18 Location: CHOA Egleston Hospital - Atlanta Event: CHOA Egleston Visit Event Charity: N/A After almost a month without trooping a last minute request popped up for this visit. I feel that visits such as these are why we do what we do, bringing smiles to kids (and adults) faces. Helping these amazingly strong kids to forget their reality for just a moment makes a huge difference. I was the only Garrison member with a costume able to attend, fortunately I did have a Garrison handler come too, so I mixed it up with the other group that was there. --------------------------------------------------------- Troop #: 8 Date: December 1, 2018 Location: Peachtree Street, Atlanta Event: CHOA Christmas Parade Event Charity: CHOA Charity Event It was cold. It was raining non-stop. It was windy. That didn't stop a group of around 80 members and handlers from going out and marching down Peachtree Street. And we were very well received! So many happy kids and parents calling out characters or yelling thanks for being out there. Definitely a memorable event just due to the weather. A group of us decided to remain as canon as possible (candy cane blasters were the only non-canon items as blasters were not permitted this year) and it turned out very well with the way the groups were organized in line. Some soaked folks decided to bypass the group shot: One of our members is notorious for wandering during the parade, so pre-parade we showed him what we'd do if he decided to wander off... Here I am mostly center/right screen (with the binders) on TV. . Edited December 27, 2018 by Scimitar 3 Quote
Cricket[TK] Posted December 3, 2018 Report Posted December 3, 2018 We were total bada$$es in that parade!!!! It was the single most grueling troop I've ever participated in. The rain was bad, but the wind!! Agh!!! It was painful, was it not? Hey, at least we had no lens fogging issues, right? And we looked ah-maz-ing out there in the rain. The kids loved us!!! 1 Quote
Cricket[TK] Posted December 3, 2018 Report Posted December 3, 2018 I had my electronics turned off. I don't think anyone had electronics on that day. If they did, I don't think they would have been working by the end of the troop. We were soaked when we were done. I'm not exaggerating on that one. Someone mentioned that taking a shower would have been a drier experience, and that was definitely true. My boots are still drying out from the event. And the temps were in the high 40's to low 50's that day. When the wind would blow, it felt much, much colder than that. My fingers hurt for a while- until they went completely numb. So, yeah, it was cold. 2 Quote

I keep mine in my chest, but I think if I were to be in bad weather, I’d elect to not troop with all the electronics in the chest. Was it cold as well? Appears so. If they did, I don't think they would have been working by the end of the troop. I had my fans and Ukswrath hovi-speakers on for the duration of the parade, no issues and fortunately everything is still working as it should, which is a real testament to the speakers themselves as they are exposed. My electronics "boxes" are mounted to the sides of the helmet near the ears, so I think that kept them unexposed to the water that did get in. And man, was there water everywhere. I dumped quite a bit out of the helmet at the end. 19 hours ago, Bud Spaklur said: Wow, that’s dedication. I feel like you guys should have a special patch just for that troop. That’s one I would’ve been like, “oh, yeah, ummm, my kid puked....uh, I can’t make it today. Sorry guys!” Nice job, though. Now I’m thinking I need to buy some real deal, thermal undersuit... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk There was a lot of stopping and standing during the parade, so to keep myself distracted from the wind and rain I was mentally designing a vinyl/patch to represent the event. I need to sit down and put it on the computer at some point. I was joking that day that I should have worn a diving suit under the armor. Seriously though, the cold weather compression gear by Tesla works really well. But I'd only recommend it for a colder, outdoor event, anything else and you'll likely get too warm. Not sure how it would do in a rainy event, it might get pretty soggy with the additional lining. Quote
Scimitar[TK] Posted December 27, 2018 Author Report Posted December 27, 2018 I've sorely needed to update this thread, it's been a crazy month to say the least. Troop #: 9 Date: December 3, 2018 Location: Atlanta Hospice Center Event: Private Family Visit Event Charity: N/A We were asked to come visit a 17 year old girl who had beat so many odds but who was facing the end. The family was determined to celebrate every moment and had asked us to come visit her in the midst of all their activities as they are big Star Wars fans. This was definitely one of the more emotional visits I've done so far, but the family was so happy to see us (especially the dad who had no idea we were coming) and our presence seemed to bring a bit of comfort to them. It was a tough but amazing experience. --------------------------------------------------------- Troop #: 10 Date: December 7, 2018 Location: CHOA Egleston Hospital - Atlanta Event: Snapshots with Santa Event Charity: CHOA My last troop for the year was Snapshots with Santa, as always, the kids there loved us and Santa was a lot of fun himself. Each time I do an event like this I marvel at how strong these kids (and families) can be considering what they're facing. It's truly amazing. And I always hope that we make their day a little brighter, even if just for a moment. 1 Quote
Scimitar[TK] Posted April 9, 2019 Author Report Posted April 9, 2019 Ok, time for a much needed update as I've let this thread lapse. This year has been busy so far! I had the honor of being asked to join the Event Coordinator team for the Georgia Garrison, I'm building my wife's Legacy TK, finishing up my TIE Pilot/Reserve, and have been steadily researching and obtaining the items I need to build an ESB Fett. The addiction is real folks. On to the troop log! Troop #: 11 Date: January 24, 2019 Location: 11Alive Studios - Atlanta Event: TV Spot for Atlanta Gladiators Star Wars Night Event Charity: N/A We were asked to come participate in a promotional spot for the Atlanta Gladiators Star Wars Night game. Always fun to get to see behind the scenes of live TV production! A long time ago, in space, the final frontier: During filming Rey gave me a good helmet check: Quote
Scimitar[TK] Posted April 9, 2019 Author Report Posted April 9, 2019 Troop #: 12 Date: January 26, 2019 Location: Infinite Energy Arena Event: Atlanta Gladiators Star Wars Night Event Charity: Boys & Girls Club This was a very fun event, the Gladiators staff told us it was the largest turnout on the books for one of their games so far. The event was somewhere around 5 hours long but in all the activity of doing a Boys & Girls club pregame Meet & Greet, patrolling the lobby, and taking part in Blast-A-Trooper, the time absolutely flew by. Lou (TK32568) and I standing guard: And handing out high fives: I'm trying to decide how to apprehend an irate Wookiee: Is a Wookiee ticklish? Aggressive negotiations: Quote
Scimitar[TK] Posted April 9, 2019 Author Report Posted April 9, 2019 Troop #: 13 Date: February 21, 2019 Location: Renaissance Concourse Atlanta Airport Hotel Event: Bert's Big Adventure Sendoff Event Charity: Bert's Big Adventure Bert's Big Adventure is a huge charity in the Atlanta area, their big event each year is to send children (and their families) who have chronic and terminal illnesses to Walt Disney World for five days, all expenses paid. They also have numerous other events throughout the year. This troop was the sendoff at Hartsfield Airport, it was an early day as we started around 5:30 am, but it was also a very rewarding experience. Rey got me again... lol Our group partnered with some Disney princesses that morning: Quote
Scimitar[TK] Posted April 9, 2019 Author Report Posted April 9, 2019 Troop #: 14 Date: March 15, 2019 Location: Atlanta Symphony Hall Event: Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back Movie Event Charity: N/A Last year while in the middle of my TK build I attended this event with my wife (except it was A New Hope playing), this year we got to attend as TK and Handler. Prior to the show we were asked to control, I mean, interact with the crowds and take pictures. For those not familiar with these events, the score is removed from the movie and while the movie plays the orchestra performs the score. It's a very awesome experience! The crew: Good seats: Time for my favorite movie! The End: Quote
Scimitar[TK] Posted April 9, 2019 Author Report Posted April 9, 2019 Troop #: 15 Date: March 16, 2019 Location: Peachtree Street, Atlanta Event: St. Patrick's Day Parade Event Charity: N/A Another parade in the books and while it was a bit on the cold side, it was at least not raining! Canon White Armor: The Boss: Trooper Lines: The Whole Crew: Who would win? Quote
CableGuy[TK] Posted April 9, 2019 Report Posted April 9, 2019 Wow, good turn out at that event. :-) 1 Quote
Scimitar[TK] Posted February 19, 2020 Author Report Posted February 19, 2020 (edited) Please bear with me as I play a long overdue game of catch up here. Troop #: 16 Date: May 4, 2019 Location: Vulcan Quarry Event: Quarry Crusher Run Event Charities: Boys & Girls Club of Gwinnett County & Three Title I Schools This was another awesome event, we got to help raise money for two great causes and cheer on the runners as well. The turnout from our area's groups was huge and the crowd loved it. This quarry has been used in a number of movies and the photos we got to take post-event had a great other-world feeling to them. I'm going to share a lot of photos from this one. I'm going for the high five, he's going for the hug: That's ok, I can hand out all of the hugs: Our group shot: Here I go climbing on stuff again: What world is this again? I don't look 6ft tall here: Edited February 19, 2020 by Scimitar 2 Quote
