XWingAce77[TK] Posted September 12, 2018 Author Report Posted September 12, 2018 so no matter what i do the left side wont cooperate i also managed to get a crack.... super frustrating Quote
Rat[TK] Posted September 12, 2018 Report Posted September 12, 2018 This is sad to hear. Could you get a photo so we could advise a fix Brendan? Shaping with boiling water is a rinse and repeat job usually.Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk Quote
Rat[TK] Posted September 12, 2018 Report Posted September 12, 2018 Thanks that helps, how long is it? I know there's a thread about repairing armor, but don't recall where it is, perhaps someone could link it for you. The simple explanation is you can take a bit of your thicker crap, say your shoulder bell ends and cut it to fit with 1" over lap and CA/super glue it to the area. Then mix up some abs paste to fill as needed. So if the crack is 1" long cut your patch 2" long and 2"wide. To make abs paste with small cuttings of scrap and some acetone, nail polish remover and let it set over night. Then spread it over the top. Sand using 220, 400, 1200 grit. I had to add back to my thigh because I trimmed too much, it happens, but it's not unfixable.Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk Quote
Rat[TK] Posted September 12, 2018 Report Posted September 12, 2018 I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong though.Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk Quote
ukswrath[Staff] Posted September 12, 2018 Report Posted September 12, 2018 Cover strips are great for concealing imperfections . Sorry to hear about the crack. If reinforcing it isn't your thing you can always remove the return edge past the crack, it's not required. 1 Quote
XWingAce77[TK] Posted September 13, 2018 Author Report Posted September 13, 2018 decided to take a break from the back plate for a few days. so time to move onto the legs! Quote
XWingAce77[TK] Posted September 13, 2018 Author Report Posted September 13, 2018 (edited) also found out the point in the back stabs me in the but, so i taped off the portion that should be trimmed, I did not see anything that would hinder centurion qualification but i wanted to make sure before i make a cut. the red line is the top of the cut area. XWingAce77[TK] Posted September 13, 2018 Author Report Posted September 13, 2018 another question was the bottom of the leg, i cannot bend my leg at all (wanted to build a TK not C3-P0 ) is it acceptable to cut part of the back out? Quote

Rat[TK] Posted September 13, 2018 Report Posted September 13, 2018 Brendon how does the thigh fit in the length? Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk Quote
XWingAce77[TK] Posted September 13, 2018 Author Report Posted September 13, 2018 i had it sitting as high as it goes and it felt pretty long, the bottom stops right in the middle of my knee 1 Quote
Rat[TK] Posted September 13, 2018 Report Posted September 13, 2018 i had it sitting as high as it goes and it felt pretty long, the bottom stops right in the middle of my kneeMine did the same and I ended up trimming them down about a half inch. You may not need to do that. Seems they are pretty snug on you already. I'll set this one out and let the masters give advice on this.Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk Quote
gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted September 13, 2018 Report Posted September 13, 2018 I wouldn’t trim it down until you see what spacing you have between you thighs, shins, COD and butt plate. It’s easier to take off later than try to add on if you trim too much. You can however trim off the return edge as it’s not required, that should stop the pitching and give you a little extra room 1 Quote

XWingAce77[TK] Posted September 13, 2018 Author Report Posted September 13, 2018 shins arent trimmed fully just a rough trim. but this is how its fitting, cant bend my legs at all and i know the boots will add some height. where the shins sit as of right now it feels very off Quote
XWingAce77[TK] Posted September 13, 2018 Author Report Posted September 13, 2018 i most likely have a lot of return edge? Quote

XWingAce77[TK] Posted September 13, 2018 Author Report Posted September 13, 2018 trimmed a bit more, down to about a 4mm return edge on top and bottom. this is about as far as my leg will bend. Quote
XWingAce77[TK] Posted September 13, 2018 Author Report Posted September 13, 2018 it definitely fits better with those slight trims Quote
gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted September 13, 2018 Report Posted September 13, 2018 You also have the option of taken out some material from the backs to help with bending Quote

gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted September 13, 2018 Report Posted September 13, 2018 It’s a good idea to check the gallery’s, some great screen references can be found there https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/gallery/ There are also a lot of helpful build threads for those with shorter legs, some even cutting their tops of thighs and forming new return edges. These may come in handy if you decide to trim them: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/12972-howto-make-a-return-edge-on-armor-using-a-heat-sealing-iron/ http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11836-how-to-make-thigh-tops-anh-style/ http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/13513-anh-thigh-tops-on-am-armor-craziness/ 3 Quote
