Rat[TK] Posted September 10, 2018 Report Posted September 10, 2018 I think I got what you are saying. I just need to cut the outer forearm as shown. Also see how it is shaped like a football and. Or round. This is what I ask about reshapingSent from my iPhone using TapatalkYes, this is what you want to do.Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk Quote
shootstraight Posted September 11, 2018 Author Report Posted September 11, 2018 Already fellow TKs, I think this is ready to be sanded and scored for e6000 and strips. Can I get your final thoughts. Maybe I will do the other arm first before gluing. The heat gun made a difference, key is to hold it with aluminum foil!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
Rat[TK] Posted September 11, 2018 Report Posted September 11, 2018 Looks good, but the bicep will set lower once you start strapping so keep that in mind. If you look at my right bicep that is about where it should be setting from what I understand. Someone could correct me if I'm wrong though. Basically the inside dip of the bicep should be sitting about even with the bottom of the shoulder bell.Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk Quote
shootstraight Posted September 11, 2018 Author Report Posted September 11, 2018 Gotcha and makes sense. Also does the strips cover the entire lip of the lower part of the forearm? I had to taper a bit and so it doesn’t cover in its entirety. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
shootstraight Posted September 11, 2018 Author Report Posted September 11, 2018 Oh also Rat, should I trim the bottom of the bicep to align with the shoulder bell per your adviseSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
Rat[TK] Posted September 11, 2018 Report Posted September 11, 2018 Oh also Rat, should I trim the bottom of the bicep to align with the shoulder bell per your adviseSent from my iPhone using TapatalkCover strip should be slightly shorter by 2 or 3mm to keep from snagging or poking. You shouldn't have to trim it. The bicep should be sitting just above your elbow. If you look at the photo I put up you'll see my bicep sits just above the top of mine. But every trooper is different, I would suggest lining them up and taping them to be sure of a proper fit to you.Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk Quote
shootstraight Posted September 11, 2018 Author Report Posted September 11, 2018 ThanksSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
shootstraight Posted September 11, 2018 Author Report Posted September 11, 2018 How do these look? Can I sand and apply strips? What part should follow? ThanksSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
CableGuy[TK] Posted September 12, 2018 Report Posted September 12, 2018 Hi Ryan,Just a little tip. It’s always recommended to do your test fitting with your undersuit on. Also, a finger’s width around the majority of parts can be helpful to allow movement (if possible). :-) 2 Quote
shootstraight Posted September 15, 2018 Author Report Posted September 15, 2018 Ok, can I get one final review before adding strips. I have sand the edges and am ready to glue but one last review provided is appreciated. How does the height alignment and gaps look?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
ukswrath[Staff] Posted September 15, 2018 Report Posted September 15, 2018 Looks good Ryan. Ready for cover strips Quote
shootstraight Posted September 15, 2018 Author Report Posted September 15, 2018 Thank. The small split on the should bell edge, I will super glue a small piece on the inside. Should I make any type of paste on the outside to coder the crack as well? How do you I do that?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
gmrhodes13[Staff] Posted September 15, 2018 Report Posted September 15, 2018 ABS paste how to here 2 Quote
ukswrath[Staff] Posted September 19, 2018 Report Posted September 19, 2018 Hey Ryan any new progress? Quote
shootstraight Posted September 22, 2018 Author Report Posted September 22, 2018 Yes, just finished up the arms. Thoughts? Feedback on the strips and whether they need redone? Some have small gaps (see last 2 pics). Also how to reshape in a wash? Lastly what should I start on next body or legs?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
ukswrath[Staff] Posted September 22, 2018 Report Posted September 22, 2018 Looking good, nice work The minor gap between the cover strip and armor is ok so long as the strength is there. You don't want this popping loose. Other than that make sure the covcer strips don't extend past the armors edge. The bicep with the 14 sticker could stand to be reshaped. Quote
shootstraight Posted September 22, 2018 Author Report Posted September 22, 2018 I thought the should extend slightly past the armor. Are you saying they should not? I will need to remove them all and cut shorter. How do I reshape them?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
Rat[TK] Posted September 22, 2018 Report Posted September 22, 2018 Yeah the cover strips should be slightly shorter then the pieces. So far as the reshaping I'm not sure, but it does appear to be excessively oblonged, but I'll let Tony clarify that. Quote
shootstraight Posted September 22, 2018 Author Report Posted September 22, 2018 Then do I need to remove the exterior strips and cut them shorter? I though the strips where to be slightly longer to cover the ends if they don’t come together flush??? Can I dermal it down flush?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
Rat[TK] Posted September 22, 2018 Report Posted September 22, 2018 Do you have some pictures showing the gap? The amount of gap would determine the solution. However with regards to the length you could Dremel them down, but it would be risky. Like I said the size of the gap will greatly determine the best way of dealing with it. Quote
shootstraight Posted September 22, 2018 Author Report Posted September 22, 2018 The last picture shows the gap between the armor and strip. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
Rat[TK] Posted September 22, 2018 Report Posted September 22, 2018 I see what you mean now. Like I said you could Dremel them, but there's a lot of risk with that. You could, depending on what glue you're using, just pull it up a bit and trim it. Another possibility is to use a exacto blade and trim them as they are just be careful and don't so slowly. If you're more comfortable with pulling them completely and regluing them after cleaning them up of any old glue. Quote
shootstraight Posted September 22, 2018 Author Report Posted September 22, 2018 Can I get a picture of what the strips should look like on the ends? Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
